Dear student,

Hopwood Hall College has beenproviding locally based highereducation and professional programmesfor many years. As the government isencouraging more people to enterhigher education, the demand for suchprogrammes rises each year, and thisprospectus tells you what is available.

Programmes at this level are requiredlocally to allow local people to embracethe culture of lifelong learning, upskilling themselves throughout theirworking lives to levels that will allow

their organisation to adopt the new technologies and new techniques of the 21stcentury. Another reason for local provision, because of the costs involved, is theincreasing trend of many students to stay at home for university-standard education.

Many of our successful Access and Higher Education students have told us about thebenefits of studying in the Hopwood Hall environment. Generally speaking, becauseour classes are smaller than those in universities, our students receive expert teachingand excellent formal and informal support from tutors with better access toresources. Students also feel that they are part of a small and closely knit community. They stay the course, don’t drop out and succeed with their chosen qualification.

Recent research also indicates that investment in time on this level of programme isrewarded in a number of ways, such as enhanced employment prospects, promotionand greater earnings.

To support progression to even higher levels of study, the college has a number ofpartnerships with higher education institutions such as The University of Salford,The University of Huddersfield, The Manchester Metropolitan University andThe University of Bolton – many of our students chose to continue their educationthis way.

I would invite you to see what we have on offer and to consider how we can helpdevelop your career or offer you a higher-level educational experience. If you aspireto higher education, but feel you might not have the necessary entry qualifications, please contact the college and ask for details of our popular and successful "Access toHE" programme.

We look forward to welcoming you and working with you to achieve the results youwill need to achieve your goals.
