Literacy Activity Focus: writing sentences

Today we will be learning about people who help us. Please watch the video posted by your class teacher on class dojo. First you might like to watch the video about people who help us: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5uTOOQDEMLI Then, can you draw a picture of one of the people who help us? Questions to ask your child: Who will you draw? How can they help you? What do they wear? Can you colour your picture?

After that, complete the activity in your home learning pack. Can you say a simple sentence about each of these real heroes? Use your fred fingers to help you write a sentence about the real hero. Don’t forget to use your sentence writing rules: Capital letters, finger spaces and full stops. Examples: It is a vet. She is a doctor. He is a policeman.

Math Activity Focus: finding a total (addition)

Today we will be learning about money. The children will be finding a total when adding the price of two objects together. Please watch the video posted by your class teacher on class dojo. First set up a pretend shop in your home and give items a value. For example: a banana is worth 2 dirhams, an apple is worth 1 dirham, an orange is worth 3 dirhams.

Ask your child to ‘go to the shop’. How much money will you need to buy 1 banana and 1 apple? Use real coins to help them count: 2 dirhams for a banana ‘and’ 1 dirham for an apple equals 3 dirhams altogether. Write the answer in the box to complete the sum.

Literacy Activity Focus: reading high frequency words

Today we are going to be learning about people who help us. We will also practice reading our high frequency words. Please watch the video posted by your class teacher on class dojo.§ First, you might like to have a look at the ‘Imagine that’ YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=can+you+imagine+that+who+do+you+want+to+be Have a look at all of the different jobs and let you child watch a video of their choice. Questions you can ask your child: What does this person do? How do they help us? What do they wear? What special equipment do they need to use? Where do they work? Would you like to do this job? Next, can you dress up as this person and use your imagination to role play and do this job? Play with your family or toys. After that, complete the activity in your home learning pack. Read the tricky words and colour them the correct colour by using the key at the top of the page to help you. I = red, the = blue, no = yellow, go = green, me = purple

First, like you did the other day set up a shop in your home. Allow your child to practice adding two quantities together (use small numbers - the total should not be bigger than 10). Challenge: try and add number bonds to 5 1 + 4 2 + 3 3 + 2 4 + 1 Can your child calculate thee sums speedily?

First, ask your child these questions: What jobs have we learned about this week? What would you like to be when you grow up? Why do you want to do this? Next, complete the activity in your home learning pack or download the sheet from the Weebly website. Draw a picture of what you will be when you grow up. Make sure to add lots of detail and colour it in neatly. Can you write a sentence about it? (Let your child do this

independently – its ok if the spelling isn’t correct) Try writing: When I grow up, I will be ….. Challenge: use the word ‘because’ in your sentence.
