We will stand together this year through thick and thin, through rain and shine even when our profits vary as much as our opinions. We will forgive each other’s poor choices as we celebrate reaching personal goals. We will foster the gifts of the artists new to the market and care for the founders who built it to support us. We will welcome our community and encourage their sponsorship of handcrafted, one of a kind, attain- able finery. For one day a week, we will leave behind the arm’s length re- lationships of this high tech virtual world and embrace the face to face, honest and true communication of our public marketplace. ParkingYou have only 20 minutes to park

for loading and unloading. Then you must move your vehicle and go park your car. There are several options ranging from free to low cost. On Saturdays all of the parking struc-tures are free. Occasionally there will be an event of some sort, at the Hult Center for instance, and the City will charge for parking close to that venue but at the time we are loading in, it is most likely that the garages are free on every Saturday of the year. Further away, but a little safer, are the lots to the west of Charnelton at Broadway or along High at 10th and Pearl.

The very closest parking is at

the Butterfly lot north of the Lane County Farmers Market and it is $3.00 for all day. The machine is at the entry ramp and you will receive a permit which will allow for re-en-try. Another is Lot 15 in the middle of the block south of City Hall one block east of the Market. This lot is $2.75 and we sell permits for this lot at the information booth. Both the Butterfly and Lot 15 are flat lots which allow for oversized rigs.

Social Media Benefits The Market

What is “social media”, you ask? Face-book, Twitter and Instagram are all examples of social me-dia. Websites where people can easily share information, updates, pho-tos and videos in an immedi-

ate and interesting way. Sort of like the community aspects of Saturday Market, but on the worldwide web.

Since it’s so Saturday Market-y already, we make good use of it, and so can you. If you are on Facebook, find and like the Market page, just search for Eugene Saturday Market. Also sign up for our private Face-book group for Market members by searching for “Eugene Saturday Mar-ket Members.” It’s a closed group, so just request to join and we’ll add you in. It’s a great place to check in with fellow Marketeers about sources for materials, booth tips, and general Market info. If you have a business page on Facebook, we love to share some of your updates, so let us know about it in the Member group.

The Market’s twitter name is @saturdaymarket, and I (Kim) tweet on Saturdays mostly. Tweet at me and I’ll follow you too. If you use Instagram (a photo sharing site), fol-low @saturdaymarket and I’ll follow you back.

If you’ve read this far and still have no idea what I’m talking about, but would really like to, stay tuned. I plan to do free-for-member work-shops on using social media, focus-ing mostly on using Facebook for your business, but including other social options. “…I am not self-righteous, pretentious, or deluded enough to believe that the job of an artist is more important than any other. All I believe is that art is sometimes necessary to make life bear-able, and to remind people in their lone-liest moments, that others feel as deeply as they do, that we are all alone in this together, and should make it as beautiful for reach other as it honestly can be…” -Maia Rianne Hisamoto
