    4-H/FFA Jousting Open Jousting show at the Warren County Farmers Fair

    Wednesday August 4, 2010 at 6:00 pm

    The object is to gallop (or walk as the case may be) your horse down a track and try to spear small rings with the use of a lance (we have donated, decorated ski poles). Tournaments have few rules other than scoring. Riders can ride any type of horse.

    Photography and Needlework These items are prejudged before fair and displayed in the 4-H building the week of fair. All Warren County 4-H youth are welcome to enter items in these shows. The pre judging dates are July 12 and 13th, with all items to be dropped off at the 4-H Office on July 12 by 4:30 p.m. The items can be picked up on July 13 (time to be announced).

    You will be expected to bring your judged items the Saturday before the fair opens so we can place in the 4-H building for the week of fair. It is there that the ribbons will be placed on the items based on the earlier judging.

    Deadline for fair entries is June 30 entry forms are online at

    All large animals must have been owned/cared for since May 1 of this year to show at this year’s fair!

    4-H MILK BOOTH The Teen council will be in charge of the 4-H Milk Booth at the fair again this year. They are requesting 4-H clubs sign up to work in the booth. The proceeds from the sale of the ice cream and milk will go to support service projects of the 4-H Teen Council.

    Clubs can sign up for a few hours, ½ day, or whatever time they feel they can accommodate. The teen council is unable to offer the nominal fees for clubs who sign up, however, youth will still receive a free ice cream after their shift! Adults, leaders, or older teens should be present to supervise younger members in the booth. No more than four people in the booth at one time, please.

    Please discuss this with your club and families, then sign up for whatever time slots you can help. Feel free to sign up for more than one day. Club leaders will be contacted to confirm booth times. If you have any questions, call the 4-H Office at 908-475-6502. Return this form back to the 4-H Office ASAP.

    Building Watch Rule

    - Each 4-H member that exhibits in the 4-H building is responsible for a two-hour segment or segments totaling two hours of Building Watch or premiums will be withheld. Substitutes are allowable. NOTE: THERE WILL BE NO BUILDING WATCH TIMES DURING PUBLIC PRESENTATIONS

    2. No premiums will be awarded for items exhibited in the 4-H building if you do not fulfill your watch duty. Premiums will be given out for items in the 4-H Building at 8 pm on Saturday of the Fair.

    3. Club Booth Exhibits - two hours Building Watch time per club booth exhibit is required; may be divided between all club members.

    4. Prep Club - required to sit two hours per club. 5. You must sign in and out to receive premiums. 6. You will be notified by postcard in July of your scheduled time. 7. Segmented times are allowed for 4-H'ers with animal responsibilities at the fair. ALL OTHERS sign up for

    a consecutive two-hour time slot. 8. Parents, grandparents or friends may be substituted for 4-H club member, IF NECESSARY. 9. All herdsmen approved by the 4-H office10. All exceptions to these rules must be presented in writing to 4-H Leaders Association where they will be
