    FROM PRISON TO PALACE

STORY OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PERSON

vshine magazineThe gates of the dark dungeon were opened on the orders of king of Egypt, to set free the person, who

had inspired the king with his wisdom and problem solving skills. This noble and pious person was

Prophet Yusuf (Alayh as-Salaam) who was released from the prison with his dignity and innocence

    proved.

The king's dream became a means of the liberation of Prophet Yusuf (Alayh as-Salaam) from prison. The

king of Egypt dreamt that seven lean cows were eating seven fat ones and that there were seven green

ears of corn and seven dry ones. He asked the nobles to tell him the meaning of his dream but no one

    knew what the dream meant.

As soon as the cup bearer heard of the kings dream .He was reminded of his time in prison and

remembered the powers of his cell-mate. He approached the king and got his permission to see Prophet

    Yusuf (Alayh as-Salaam).

Prophet Yusuf (Alayh as-Salaam AS) interpreted the dream by the power given to him by Allah that for

seven years the crops will yield abundant food-grain followed by seven years of famine, and they should

carefully save the food stuff for difficult years. On hearing this very reasonable and sensible

interpretation of his dream from the cup bearer, the king was delighted. He ordered that Prophet Yusuf(Alayh as-Salaam AS) be brought before him so he could make good use of his intelligence.

Prophet Yusuf (Alayh as-Salaam), is the most beautiful person ever lived in this world. The Holy Qur'an

has mentioned his story in a beautiful chapter entitled "Surah Yusuf". Prophet Yusuf (Alayh as-Salaam)

was the son of Prophet Ya'qub Yusuf (Alayh as-Salaam). He possessed excellent character and manners.

After the passage of many year, Yusuf (Alayh as-Salaam) finally met his jealous brothers who had thrown

him into a well as a child .By that time, Yusuf (Alayh as-Salaam) had attained a high rank in the court of

the king of Egypt, and was responsible for looking after the storehouses of the country. The brothers did

    not recognize who he was.

The brothers had come to Egypt to buy grains and food-stuffs at a time when there was a drought, and

Yusuf (Alayh as-Salaam) gave them a lot of grains and returned the price that they had paid to get it as

    well.

He asked them to bring their other brother Binyameen with them the next time as well. Yusuf (Alayh as-

Salaam) liked this particular brother very much and wanted to keep him with himself. With Allahs help,

Prophet (Alayh as-Salaam) plotted a strategy to keep his beloved brother with him.

Later, when the rest of the brothers returned to their home, their father Yaqoub (Alayh as-Salaam) was

grief-stricken at the news of the loss of a second son. When the brothers returned to Egypt, they wentto Yusuf( Alayh as-Salaam)and tried to talk to him about their need for foodstuffs. It was at that time

that Yusuf (Alayh as-Salaam) revealed his true identity to them.

Yusuf (Alayh as-Salaam) forgave his brothers, and hoped that Allah would also forgive them. Later, the

parents of Yusuf (Alayh as-Salaam) were reunited with him after a separation of many years, and Yusuf

(Alayh as-Salaam) praised and thanked Allah for reuniting him with his family and for granting him

authority and power in the land. The story of Yusuf (Alayh as-Salaam) is a great example of forgiveness

    and mercy, and generosity.
