WHEN A CONVENTIONAL REINFORCED CONCRETE SLAB IS TO BE USED, TIHE THICKNESS MUST BE DETERMINED BY THE CUSTOMER BASED ON LOCAL SOIL CONDITIONS. AN EMBEDDED PLATE AT EACH MOUNTING PAD IS REQUIRED TO SUPPORT JACKING SCREW (REF PIL 181 ). THE SLAB OR DECK SHOULD PROVIDE ADEQUATE, CLEAN WALKWAYS THAT PERMIT ACCESS FOR MAINTENANCE AND ALLOW PROPER CLEARANCE FOR HINGED ENCLOSURE DOORS. THE ACCESS PATH AROUND TIHE PACKAGE IS RECOMMENDED TO BE A MINIMUM OF 1 0' [3048mm] WIDE ON ALL SIDES FOR ENGINE REMOVAL.
2.3 THE SKID ASSEMBLY IS PROVIDED WITH FOUR LIFT POINTS FOR INDIVIDUAL - SKID LIFTING AND TOTAL PACKAGE LIFTING. ALL FOUR SPECIFIED LIFT
POINTS MUST BE USED AND SPREADER BARS ARE REQUIRED TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO PACKAGE.

2.5 BASE LEVELING PROCEDURE: INITIAL LEVELING IS ACCOMPLISHED BY ADJUSTING BASE USING JACKING BOLTS AND LEVELING FEATURES ON EACH SIDE OF THE SKID. WHEN THE TOPS OF ALL LEVELING FEATURES ARE COPLANAR WITHIN ±1/16" [1.6mm], PROCEED WITH FINAL LEVELING OF EQUIPMENT MOUNTING PADS. THE FINAL LIEVELING CHECK IS MADE USING A PRECISION MACHINIST LEVEL, TRANSIT, OR EQUIVALENT ON THE EQUIPMENT MOUNTING PADS. EQUIPMENT USED MUST BE CAPABLE OF MEASURING THE REQUIRED TOLERANCES AT THE MOUNTING PADS. THE PACKAGE FRAMES ARE CONSIDERED LEVEL WHEN THE MACHINED PADS UNDER THE ENGINE AND DRIVEN EQUIPMENT ARE LEVEL WITHIN .005" [.127mm] PER FOOT AND COPLANAR WITHIN .010" [.254mm]. INSERT SHIMS OR POUR GROUTED PEDESTALS UNDER BASE MOUNTING PADS. SHIMMED BASES MAY BE TORQUED IMMEDIATELY. GROUTED PEDESTALS MUST BE ALLOWED TO CURE BEFORE TORQUING ANCHOR BOLTS. TORQUE ANCHOR BOLTS TO 1,050 FT -LBS (1424 N-M) AND VERIFY THAT BASE LEVEL HAS BEEN MAINTAINED.
CAUTION: PRIOR TO GROUTING, FINAL ROTATING EQUIPMENT ALIGNMENT AND COUPLING FIT SHOULD BE VERIFIED.

2.6 THE BOTTOM SURFACE OF THE PACKAGE FRAME, INCLUDING THE PACKAGE TIE DOWN LOCATIONS, IS PAINTED WITH THE SAME PROCESS AS THE OTHER SURFACES OF THE FRAME. THIS PAINT PROCESS IS COMPLETELY COMPATIBLE WITH GROUT PROCESSES AND DOES NOT REQUIRE REMOVAL OF THE PAINT WHEN GROUT IS UTILIZED. THE GROUT CAN BE APPLIED DIRECTLY TO THE PAINTED SURFACE.
2.7 REVERSE ROTATION OF THE DRIVEN EQUIPMENT DURING OPERATION IS DEFINITELY NOT PERMITTED. SEVERE DAMAGE TO SHAFT BEARINGS WILL OCCUR.

EQUIPMENT ALIGNMENT
PRELIMINARY ALIGNMENT CONSIDERATIONS: PRELIMINARY ALIGNMENT CHECKS ARE ESSENTIAL. THEY MUST BE COMPLETED BEFORE AUGNMENT
THIS ALIGNMENT PROCEDURE ASSUMES THAT NO SOFT FOOT OR SHORT FOOT CONDITION EXISTS ON ANY OF THE MACHINES AND THE BASE(S) HAVE BEEN QUALIFIED IN ACCORDANCE WITH SOLAR QUALITY ASSURANCE PROCEDURES. THAT THE DIAL INDICATORS ARE CALIBRATED AND IN GOOD WORKING ORDER.
BASE LEVEUNG PROCEDURE: THE PURPOSE OF LEVELING BASE IS TO PLACE THE BASE IN THE SAME POSITION AS DURING FACTORY ALIGNMENT AND TESTING.
BASE/PACKAGE LEVELING IS ACCOMPLISHED BY ADJUSTING BASE JACKING BOLTS ON EACH SIDE OF THE BASE.
THREE POINT MOUNT: IF THE BASE/PACKAGE IS INTENDED TO BE A THREE (3) POINT MOUNT UNIT. THERE WILL BE ONE JACKING BOLT ON EACH SIDE OF THE SKID AND ONE AT THE END OF THE BASE. IN SOME CASES THE MIDDLE (OR THIRD MOUNT) MAY BE LOCATED INTERNAL TO THE BASE IN THE CENTER OF THE CROSS BEAM. THE FINAL CUSTOMER SITE REQUIREMENTS SHOULD BE SIMULATED DURING FACTORY BUILD AND TESTING.
FINAL LEVEUNG: USE A PRECISION LEVEL OF .0005"" (.0127) RESOLUTION OR EQUIVALENT ON THE MACHINED MOUNTING PAD SURFACES. THE LEVELING TOOL MUST BE CAPABLE OF MEASURING THE REQUIRED TOLERANCES ON THE MOUNTING PADS. THE BASE/PACKAGE IS CONSIDERED LEVEL WHEN THE MACHINED PADS AT THE CONTACT AREA UNDER THE ENGINE AND REDUCTION GEARBOX ARE LEVEL WITHIN .005" (0. 127). SHIMS MAY BE USED UNDER THE BASE MOUNTING PADS AT THE JACKING BOLT LOCATIONS TO ACHIEVE EQUIPMENT PAD LEVELING.
SITE INSTAlLATION: SECURE THE BASE/PACKAGE TO THE FOUNDATION VIA ANCHOR BOLTS AT ALL BASE TIE-DOWN POINTS AND TORQUE TO THE SPECIFIED VALUE. RECHECK MOUNTING PADS FOR LEVELNESS. PROCEED WITH ROTATING EQUIPMENT ALIGNMENT AND COUPLING FIT.
PAD CLEANLINESS: VERIFY THAT THE SHIMMABLE EQUIPMENT PADS ARE CLEAN AND FREE OF OIL. GREASE AND DEBRIS.
SHIPPING BRACES: REMOVE SHIPPING BRACES BEFORE STARTING ALIGNMENT.
RUNNING POSITION THRUSTS: THE PURPOSE OF "RUNNING POSITION THRUSTS" IS TO PLACE THE ROTORS OF ALL THE MACHINES IN THEIR OPERATING THRUSTS POSITION TO SET THE PROPER DISTANCE.
GENERATOR MAGNETIC CENTER: SET THE GENERATOR SHAFT AT THE MAGNETIC CENTER. NOT REQUIRED FOR GENERATORS USED IN "FLOATER" OR STANDBY APPLICATIONS.
COLD AUGNMENT: ALL MEMBERS NEED 12-24 HOURS TO COOL FROM OPERATING TEMPERATURE.
OIL TANK: IT IS PEFERRABLE TO HAVE OIL TANK FILLED TO ITS OPERATING LEVEL AT THIS TIME.
AUGNING OUTDOORS: WHEN ALIGNING OUTDOORS OR IN ENVIRONMENTS WITH VARYING TEMPERATURE CONDITIONS. BE AWARE OF THERMAL GROWTH EFFECTS ON THE PACKAGE AND ALIGNMENT TOOLING. WHEN PRACTICAL. ALIGNMENT SHOULD TAKE PLACE DURING THE MOST STABLE TEMPERATURE CONDITIONS.
MANIFOLDS/DUCTING: VERIFY THAT ALL MANIFOLDS (I.E. LUBE OIL) ARE LOOSENED TO ALLOW ALLOW FOR FREE MOVEMENT OF THE MACHINES.
DUCTING: THE EXHAUST BELLOWS HAVE A PRE-STRETCH GAP AT COLD INSTALLATION.
SETTING DISTANCE BETWEEN MACHINES: AFTER THE MACHINERY IS IN ITS RUNNING THRUST POSITION. USE THE PACKAGES JACKING BOLTS TO MOVE THE MACHINE AXIALLY AS REQUIRED TO ACHIEVE THE PROPER ""CALCULATED FLANGE TO FLANGE"" DISTANCE BETWEEN MACHINES OF 12.56" (319.02). SEE FIGURE I.

ALL TIE-DOWN BOLTS ARE TORQUED IN A "STAR" PATTERN TO THEIR SPECIFIED VALUE. THE INLET AND EXHAUST DUCT ARE TIGHTENED IN PLACE. ALL JACKING BOLTS ARE FULLY RETRACTED. THE OIL TANK IS FILLED TO ITS OPERATING LEVEL. AFTER THE ABOVE IS COMPLETED, RESWEEP ALIGNMENT AND VERIFY THAT THE INDICATOR READINGS ARE STILL WITHIN ALLOWABLE LIMITS. MAKE ADJUSTMENTS IF NECESSARY. RESWEEP, RESHIM, RECHECK.
NOTE: IF MISAIJGNMENT HAS BEEN CAUSED BY ATTACHMENT OF HEADER PIPES OR DUCTING, MAKE CORRECTIONS TO THE OFFENDING ITEM (S). DO NOT REPOSITION THE DRIVER OR DRIVEN MACHINES AS A METHOD OF CORRECTING THE MISAIJGNMENT CONDmON.
