COURSE DESCRIPTION

This 1-day course is designed to update Primary Care Providers on selected areas of Internal Medicine, including illnesses of increasing frequency or profile, and changes in disease management. The speakers are local specialists with expertise and experience in these areas. Participants will have the opportunity to interact with experts during plenary sessions, interactive small group workshops and networking breaks. Topics will include fatigue, CHF management, PrEP (HIV pre-exposure phrophylaxis), foot and leg infections, IBS, anemia, diabetes, obesity and weight management, and much more.

OVERALL LEARNING OBJECTIVES

At the end of the session, the participant will be able to:

Describe current treatment and management strategies for common or serious medical diseases

Determine when it is time to refer patients to the appropriate sub-specialist

This event is an Accredited Group Learning Activity (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and approved by the University of Otta-
