invite à la découverte de plus deux mille ans d’histoire et de culture syriaques.

L e syriaque a été une langue de culture majeure en Syrie-Mésopotamie du IIe au XIIIe siècle de l’ère chrétienne. Fruit des contacts et du métissage à la frontière des Empires romain et parthe, cette forme d’araméen n’était la langue ni d’un État ni

d’un peuple particulier. Mais avec la christianisation, le syriaque a connu un développement exceptionnel. Il s’est répandu de la Méditerranée à l’Asie orientale et constitue aujourd’hui encore la langue classique, littéraire et religieuse de plusieurs Églises orientales.

Le syriaque est à côté du latin et du grec la troisième composante du christianisme ancien, ancrée dans l’hellénisme mais également descendante de l’antiquité proche-orientale et sémitique. Dès les premiers siècles, dans un mouvement symétrique à celui de la tradition chrétienne gréco-latine vers l’ouest, le christianisme syriaque s’est développé vers l’est, jusqu’en Inde et en Chine. Il a aussi été la branche du christianisme la plus en contact avec l’islam au sein duquel il a continué à vivre.

Françoise Briquel Chatonnet est directrice de recherche au CNRS (Laboratoire Orient et Méditerranée). Ses recherches portent principalement sur la culture écrite syriaque (manuscrits et inscriptions).

Muriel Debié est directrice d’études en Christianismes orientaux à l’École Pratique des Hautes Études (Sorbonne, PSL Research University Paris). Elle était visiteur à l’Institute for Advanced Study à Princeton (USA) au moment de la rédaction de cet ouvrage.

Responsable des cours de neuroéducation au Département de didactique de l'UQAM, il est président de l'Association pour la Recherche en Neuroéducation (ARN), qui publie une revue spécialisée dans ce domaine.

En 2013, il a reçu le prix Pat Clifford de la recherche en éducation pour ses travaux combinant les neurosciences et l'éducation.

The Institut français in Luxembourg offers general individual French courses, tailored-made for adolescents and adults. Courses for adults are classroom training or e-learning via Skype (contact us).

Private tuition offers a targeted training according to your abilities. Our flexible formulas allow you to select the dates, times and the courses frequency according to your schedule.

The IFL proposes intensive group courses (60 hours) throughout the year. The courses cover the learning of French, regardless of your level, from complete beginners to advanced. Courses from A1 to C1 are compliant with the CEFR and compatible with a preparation to DELF-DALF examinations. They are offered 3 hours per day over 4 weeks in our premises. Levels groups are composed by 3 to 5 learners.

Closing date for registrations : 1 week before the start of the course

The opening of group courses is subject to the registration of at least 3 learners having the same level as determined by the placement test.

SUMMER CAMPUSYou wish to progress quickly and use your free time skilfully during the summer? Validate one level in one month! From level A1 to C1, the Summer Campus brings together participants from the same level wishing to upgrade skills in French. The course is designed for the public from 16 years old.

Level groups are composed by 3 to 5 learners from all parts of Europe, which improves valuable linguistic and cultural exchanges.

Start of registration : 1 May 2018

For any registration, it will be asked for an advance of €200, non-refundable in case of withdrawal.

1. PRIVATE TUITION The IFL offers FLAM or FLE workshops in your home for your children from the age of 6. Workshops are individual or with siblings (consult us).

These courses are customised and flexible. The programme is designed in accordance with the needs of your children. Children are supported in a personalised and rigorous way throughout the training.

2. GROUP COURSES

Your children keep a link with the French language through a playful and creative programme.

Learning practices are focused on the acquisition and proficiency of the spoken French and the gradual discovery of the written French. Your child will learn in a group consisting of 3 to 5 pupils.

On the basis of a community or association, you provide the premises and time slots, we select highly qualified teachers for training throughout the year.

2. ONLINE TESTPrior to attending a group course, you need to take a placement test* in order to be part of a group corresponding to your level.**

The test proceeds as follows :– online assessment– oral interview via Skype

Fees : €20

3. BENEFITSAny registration allows you to get free access to our online resources platform Culturethèque.

* Except for beginners and persons holding a level certificate of less than 12 months.

** Warning: the IFL reserves the right to cancel a course for which the number of

registrations is not enough; the online test placement may not guarantee to attend a group

course. In this case, fees applicable to the placement test shall not be reimbursed by the

IFL.
