Finding and retaining the right team is a challenge that increasingly consumes both time and resources for business leaders. As a result, recruitment has developed rapidly as a leading service industry across the globe. The internet, along with social media, has brought unprecedented levels of choice for a job search – but no real and tangible customer service. AntalAntal has developed a different approach. Its teams of specialists are dedicated to putting candidates and clients at the centre of the recruitment process and offering them the highest possible levels of personal service.

Highly skilled mid to senior level talent is becoming more difficult to find: an ageing workforce, skills shortages and globalisation are just a few of the market’s pressures making it complicated for companies to identify, recruit and retain the best talent. (Source: Mercer Consulting)

TheThere are fewer and fewer graduates with the right critical skills entering the market who can act as ‘high impact replacements’ for those skilled and experienced employees leaving the market, due to the ageing baby boomer population.

TTalent is always going to be in demand. The current trend is that the big companies, as well as small and medium enterprises want to hire internationalists and candidates want to get an international experience.

GlobalGlobal recruitment companies like Antal facilitate this cross-border transition of talent. Even if an office is in a country with an economic downturn, they can still operate by placing candidates internationally. One of the best examples is the Antal office in Spain which has been a Top Performer even during the now past recession during the last three years. The reason is not that they wewere placing many candidates in Spain but that they were looking for other opportunities abroad. They placed great Spanish talent outside of the country in Germany, France and Poland.

What are the challenges of working in the recruitment industry?

Talk to any successful Antal franchisee and it is clear there is a lot you can get fromthe role: personal fulfilment, leading a business, financial reward and fun.

Antal is a leading business to business franchise where recruiters are channelling their professional business acumen and experience by placing mid to senior level professionals and generating thousands of placements a year, with millions of Dollars, Euros and Pounds in placement fees.

Antal’sAntal’s offices around the world do not focus on regions or countries but are specialists in specific sectors and disciplines, having a solid background in and knowledge of different industries. This niche focus means that Antal recruiters are experts in their fields, with complete understanding of the nuances of projects, and the exact details, needs and requirements of job specifications.

ThisThis approach has been a tremendous success not only in Europe, but also in rapidly expanding countries such as Russia, China and Poland. Antal has also built joined ventures in India and United Arab Emirates which have proven to be a huge success.

With this level of ambition to expand, Antal International decided over ten years ago to impart its knowledge to professionals interested in starting their own recruitment business. A comprehensive franchise framework was modelled on the success of Antal International: sculptured, refined and continually enhanced to adapt to changes in the markets.

Antal’sAntal’s franchise network has not stopped growing since, with the successful application of its business model now reaching more than 120 offices in over 30 countries. Franchise owners have the possibility to launch a recruitment business and hire a team of consultants that they manage, or to choose the flexibility and freedom of working independently. And Antal will not stop there, the plan is to open an average of 30 offices per year over the next few years.

"Both hiring managers and candidates want to make a good decision. We bring them a degree of certainty."

I joined Antal in January 2007 as a junior recruiter. From there on, there has been no looking back. Coming from a non recruitment, non corporate background, Antal taught me all I needed to learn to be a successful recruiter. Our 30 steps of recruitment process and APC marketing, two foundation stones, helped me be successful, not to mention the amazing amounts of commission I drew.

After working for 5 years as a billing consultant, it was time to look at something else and the perfect opportunity came in March 2012 when I became Franchise Training Manager.

I joined the franchise team and my understanding grew from just desk level operations to appreciate the nuances an owner goes through, keeping the business operational and profitable. I have an amazing team to support and can count on.

II now have a good understanding of various levels and stages of business growth and respective challenges of what owners must do to grow into the next level. However, as a business consultant, I also appreciate the constant need to learn and growing my own knowledge to be able to help and support owners and consultants.

I have an international background having worked for more than 30 years in the global FMCG industry across different areas and countries. When I decided to start my own business, my desire was to join a successful company with a good business model and established tools & processes.

AfAfter 32 years of being employed, I felt that in the “last chapter” of my career, I really wanted to help people grow and I did not want to be limited by the bureaucratic processes of large public companies anymore. I chose Antal because it is a well-established international company with over 20 years of experience and unique mentoring, training and support. The training is extremely professional and a very good mix between In-house training, menmentoring as well as 3rd party training.

The challenges I have faced were mainly to adapt to the change from being an expert to move into a new territory, get more self-discipline but helping people to grow and develop their career and play an active part in this is an amazing reward!

In my opinion, franchising is the best, safest and fastest way into being self-employed, as you can build your business on established processes and tools, which makes it easier to settle.

Having been a part of franchisee business model for a decade now, the biggest takeaway has been the opportunity to use my management knowledge while working from a Tier 2 city.

II have been continuously working and interacting with top level corporate decision makers across different sectors, around the country and even internationally, quite a unique and impressive experience.

TheThe technical and moral support is a huge advantage in terms of building up a business and this is only possible through an established franchise system. By working with international franchisors, franchise owners get to learn everything about the best practices globally, which is a definite asset when your wish is to extend and develop business internationally.

In the last 4 years, we have become 2nd largest Antal operation in India operationally, both in terms of manpower as well as turnover, and that too from a tier 2 town, Lucknow, which would have been impossible without the support and guidance I get being part of franchising.

I had always wanted to run my own business but had not found the right products to sell or service to offer. When, through my brother David, I found out more about Antal International, the support they could provide and the recruitment idea, I thought it would work very well for us. This was 10 years ago, my daughter was less than a year old when we started the business, however this has not caused any issues as I was able to work from home some days and make calls in the evening and we now have opened our own office.

MyMy previous skills, as operations manager within the retail industry have translated very easily through to the recruitment industry as has my general management experience.

I would really urge more females to consider running their own business, regardless of their family situation. It can seem very daunting, but a franchise model can take away a lot of the risk and provide more stability; through a proven business model, training and support. Antal International has given me the opportunity to earn a six figure salary through stimulating work, build a business and manage my work/life balanbalance. I would urge all you ladies to ‘GO FOR IT’!

Regular newsletters are circulated to share success stories and news from all offices. Weekly conference calls by discipline/industry specialism are organised and are open for every owner to join. A global conference is organised every year, which unifies owners worldwide in order to review the past year, speak about the changes and improvements to come, exchange business and forge friendships.

We still remain fully involved in the business of recruitment and are in the ultimate position to share information, train and advise our owners on current best practice.

UnliUnlike other recruitment network models, Antal shares clients, candidates and experience not only nationally but often internationally. Owners and internal recruiters describe Antal as a big family working together to place candidates into the right positions globally. Owners have the opportunity to work together on assignments and to share international capabilities and delivery of talent.

The widespread and open exchange of information about clients and candidates has always been key to the success of the Antal Network. This is why new franchisees joining Antal can expect full details of the many thousands of clients we have done business with.

"It's not all about talent, it's not all about knowledge, it's not all about experience, it is about the motivation to put all of that into practice and that is what I believe hustling is. Making things happen is what I do still today 22 years on with Antal International".

Tony Goodwin, Chairman and Founder, Antal InInternational and Antal International Network

Doug Bugie, PDoug Bugie, President, Antal International Network

Did you know?Antal International, has a database of more than 60.000 placements that have been done over the past 20 years Antal has been in existence.

ThisThis database of clients and candidates is only available for our owners and a unique tool to share candidates and clients globally.

Our employees and partners have a passion for helping others, both inside and outside of the workplace. Many of our employees and partners organise regular events to raise money for a wide range of good causes. We have also established the Antal Charitable Foundation, to support international charitable initiatives in a more organised manner.

TheThe Antal Charitable Foundation was created in July 2008. It focuses on supporting children’s charities across the globe, whose main aim is to help disadvantaged children. We also work with charities who support children and young adults who are disadvantaged, through no fault of their own, by physical disability, parenting issues, natural disasters and political mismanagement.

ChildChildren are our future and we feel passionately about supporting them. We feel that we have a corporate responsibility to play a role in supporting the work of the many hard working charities operating worldwide.

TheThe charities we work with are carefully chosen for their geographical reach, as well as their ability to target support for young lives across the continents where we operate. Some of our key benefactors are The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, Regenerate UK, Friends of Sure24, Chance UK, Woman Change Makers in India, Polish Children and Youth Foundation, Home of Hope in South Africa.

Additionally,Additionally, we have direct relationships with many local charities. We provide much needed financial and infrastructural support – as well as the time and attention of our employees and partners.
