Fr Mróz was speaking during Members’ Annual Renewal of their commitments. He further urged members to be witnesses of Jesus Christ by doing what Jesus Christ required them to do. He further urged them to constantly pray to the Almighty God as doing so would strengthen their faith. The parish priest reminded Action Group members that they were the salt of the world and that they should live exemplary lives in the community. The com- posed looking members clad in their blue and red uniforms were also implored to preach the Good News of Jesus Christ to the people, especially those who were yearning for the Word of God. Like many other lay organizations/movements at the parish, Action Lay organization has more women than men, a situation which has worried many parishioners, including our priests. Catholic Women’s League (CWL) and St Anna lay organizations members had their renewals in the previous months. Earlier in the morning on the same Sunday June 5, during English Mass, 13 children received baptism which was presided over by the Assistant Parish Priest Fr Mabvuto. Fr Mabvuto welcomed the newly baptized children in the Catholic Church and de- scribed them as full members of the Catholic Church, amid prolonged rounds of applause and deafening laughter from the worshippers. He thanked parents, God-parents, Catechists and pa- rishioners in general for the support rendered to the newly baptized Christians. He encouraged them (parents) to continue helping and supporting their children to know God always. Fr Mabvuto jokingly advised parents not to show their children photos taken during their baptism, especially where he fea- tured, because babies would fear his light-skin which he described as Muzungu skin. He feared that they (children) might have nightmares. He suggested that those photos could only be shown to such children in future when they grew up, amid tear jerking laughter from the congregation. So when one of these results in our acting or speak- ing or thinking, we must make sure that all our thoughts, words and deeds are controlled by the di- vine ideal, the revelation of Christ. For then our thoughts, words and deeds will not fall short of the nobility of their implications. What then must we do, we who have been found worthy of the name of Christ? Each of us must ex- amine his thoughts, words and deeds, to see wheth- er they are directed toward Christ or are turned away from him. This examination is carried out in various ways. Our deeds or our thoughts or our words are not in harmony with Christ if they issue from passion. They then bear the mark of the enemy who smears the pearl of the heart with the slime of passion, dimming and even destroying the lustre of the precious stone. On the other hand, if they are free from and un- tainted by every passionate inclination, they are di- rected toward Christ, the author and source of peace. He is like a pure, untainted stream. If you draw from him the thoughts in your mind and the in- clinations of your heart, you will show a likeness to Christ, your source and origin, as the gleaming wa- ter in a jar resembles the flowing water from which it was obtained. For the purity of Christ and the purity that is mani- fest in our hearts are identical. Christ’s purity, how- ever, is the fountainhead; ours has its source in him and flows out of him. Our life is stamped with the beauty of his thought. The inner and the outer man are harmonised in a kind of music. The mind of Christ is the controlling influence that inspires us to moderation and goodness in our behaviour. As I see it, Christian perfection consists in this: sharing the titles which express the meaning of Christ’s name, we bring out this meaning in our minds, our prayers and our way of life. St Gregory of Nyssa ‘I will follow you wherever you go.’ Jesus an- swered, ‘Foxes have holes and the birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.’ (…) Another said, ‘I will follow you, sir, but first let me go and say goodbye to my people at home.’ Jesus said to him, ‘Once the hand is laid on the plough, no one who looks back is fit for the king- dom of God.’ (Luke 9) todays Reflection / Inspiration

CHRIST SHOULD BE MANIFEST

IN OUR WHOLE LIFE

The life of the Christian has three distinguishing aspects: deeds, words and thought.

Thought comes first, then words, since our words express openly the interior conclusions of the mind. Finally, after thoughts and words, comes action, for our deeds carry out what the mind has conceived. So when one of these results in our acting or speak-ing or thinking, we must make sure that all our thoughts, words and deeds are controlled by the di-vine ideal, the revelation of Christ. Each of us must ex-amine his thoughts, words and deeds, to see wheth-er they are directed toward Christ or are turned away from him. This examination is carried out in various ways. Our deeds or our thoughts or our words are not in harmony with Christ if they issue from passion. They then bear the mark of the enemy who smears the pearl of the heart with the slime of passion, dimming and even destroying the lustre of the precious stone.

On the other hand, if they are free from and un-tainted by every passionate inclination, they are di-rected toward Christ, the author and source of peace. He is like a pure, untainted stream. If you draw from him the thoughts in your mind and the in-clinations of your heart, you will show a likeness to Christ, your source and origin, as the gleaming wa-ter in a jar resembles the flowing water from which it was obtained.

Thanksgiving After Harvest

Encouraging Message

by Parish Chairperson

Here we present the message presented by Gen Harrison Phiri, the Parish Chairperson on Sunday, 19th June, during both Masses on the Thanksgiving after Harvest, to be celebrated on Sunday, 10th July.

The Thanksgiving after Harvest this Year will be celebrated on Sunday, 10th July (correction to the Pastoral Programme, which indicates 3rd July).

We are all encouraged in the meantime to relevant Scriptures; notably Deuteronomy 26 and Leviticus 23; in our respective families and communities.

Last year here at Church Deuteronomy 26:1-10, titled “Harvest Offerings” was read ahead of Thanksgiving Sunday to refresh our minds col-lectively. This year, let me now draw attention and read Leviticus 23:9-14 Scripture titled “The First Fruits”; towards helping to prepare our minds for 10th July 2016, Thanksgiving Sunday:

‘THE LORD SAID TO MOSES, “SPEAK TO THE ISRA-

ELITES AND TELL THEM: WHEN YOU COME INTO THE LAND WHICH I AM GIVING YOU, AND REAP YOUR HAR-

VEST, YOU SHALL BRING A SHEAF OF THE FIRST FRUITS OF YOUR HARVEST TO THE PRIEST, WHO SHALL WAVE THE SHEAF BEFORE THE LORD THAT IT MAY BE ACCEPTABLE FOR YOU. ON THE DAY AFTER THE SABBATH THE PRIEST SHALL DO THIS. ON THIS DAY, WHEN YOUR SHEAF IS WAVED, YOU SHALL

Divine Mercy Quotes

“‘I remind you, My daughter, that as often as you hear the clock strike the third hour, immerse yourself completely in My mercy, adoring and glorifying it; invoke its omnipotence for the whole world, and particularly for poor sinners; for at that

moment mercy was open wide for every soul. In this hour you can obtain everything for yourself and for others for the asking; it was the hour of grace for the whole world – mercy triumphed over justice.’”
