TRANSCRIPT
“Called to Proclaim Christ”
Lesson: Acts 9:10-20
GOLDEN TEXT:
“Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto Me, to bear my name
before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel” (Acts 9:15).
TODAY’S AIM:
“To detail the call and mission of Ananias.”
INTRODUCING THE LESSON:
We have very little information about Ananias, except that he was a
disciple. He was learning about walking with the Lord. We can see
from his response to the Lord that he knew God had the right to ask him
to do anything, even something very difficult and potentially very dan-
gerous.
The call was not impossibly difficult or complicated. It did not take
special preparation, years of study, and expensive equipment. All
Ananias had to do was go, find Saul, and talk to him.
PRACTICAL POINTS:
1. As Christians, we must receive new converts, no matter what they may have come out of (Acts 9:10-12).
2. The power of God can transform the toughest sinner (Acts 9:13). 3. Earthly kingdoms are all subject to God’s sovereign authority
(Acts 9:14).
4. We have a responsibility to encourage new Christians (Acts 9:15). 5. Spreading God's Word may include suffering (Acts 9:16). 6. The Holy Spirit enables us to live right and spread God’s Word
(Acts 9:17-20).
CONCLUDING THE LESSON:
Calls from God come in many forms and to many types of believers.
We are not told of any who outright refused the call and became spiritual failures. We are, however, told of at least a few who had the marvelous opportunity to take part in God’s activities among men and
women around them. We can safely conclude that it is vitally important that we be alert to the call of God, that we are ready ahead of time through consistent
obedience to His Word, and that we instantly do His will when we know what it is. To do less would be to fail to do our part in reaching
those for whom Christ died with the gospel message. In His great sovereignty, God can still save a person we neglect, but we cannot callously ignore the call of God without great rick to ourselves. We
must love the Lover of our souls more than that.
