DOCK Children’s EducationDOCK 2016-2017 registration is up and

running online. We are excited to kick off our new school year of DOCK (Disciples of Christ Kids), our children’s education program! Classes are available during worship services on Saturdays, Sundays, and Wednesdays. Please register your child(ren) right away! We require a registration for each child as well as a new registration each school year.

Basic DOCK program information: There are two key elements to DOCK (Disciples of Christ Kids), our children’s education program:

1. Intergenerational worship once per month - The first weekend and Wednesday of every month, DOCK children join their parents in worship for the entire service. Many of these services will include children’s choirs, Skipping Stone celebrations, and a special children’s message.

2. Monthly themed classroom learning - On the remaining weekends/Wednesdays content will reflect what the congregation is covering in worship. Innovative activities include art, drama, music, storytelling, prayer, STEM, and more. Take-home activities based on the stories will help families talk about faith on the car ride home, at the breakfast table the next day, and beyond.

September DOCK Theme: Jesus is Calling!During September we’ll focus on how to follow

God’s call in our lives. DOCK stands for “Disciples of Christ Kids,” so we will learn what it means to be a disciple. Children will explore the Bible through art, games, prayer stations, drama, science, service projects and more! Let’s shine our lights for Jesus!

Young FamiliesFamily Frolics: Mondays, 9-11 a.m. Preschool children and their parents are invited

to run, jump, and play during an open, unstaffed time in the Youth and Sports Center gym and the playground outside Great Hall. There is no charge -- simply come and enjoy! For more information, contact Lisa Heyer at 651.762.9175 or [email protected].

Fall First Communion: Workshop - Oct. 1, 9:30 a.m. - 12 noon in the Great Hall; Celebrations - Oct. 1, 2, and 5

Children Grade 1 and older are invited to participate in the First Communion Workshop. The decision to participate is one made by the family, as each child develops differently, both mentally and spiritually. Communion is always open for any believing heart to participate. The workshop is a supplemental element to aide in understanding the sacrament better. During our workshop, participants will explore the history of communion, partake in a sampling of Passover foods, bake bread and learn how to prepare for the sacrament itself. Parents or godparents are asked to attend class with their child, but the whole family is invited to join. Please register to participate in the workshop and celebration.

Preschool Bible Celebrations: Wednesday, Nov. 2; Saturday, Nov. 5; or Sunday, Nov. 6

Celebrated in the fall, this milestone recognizes the exciting step children take as they enter Sunday school. Preschoolers who are beginning their first full year of DOCK (Sunday School) will experience a special blessing and will receive their own SPARK Story Bible.
