s Tadamon/Solidarity issue goes to print, progressive humanity is observing three main event of historical importance:the 150 anniversary of the birthday of the great

communist leader V.I. Lenin, the international workers day and the 75th anniversary of the victory over fascism.Despite The spread of deadly coronavirus, which limited mass actions to token and symbolic initiatives, statements, editorial were issued.-Solidarity salutes the struggle of communist and workers parties, pays t tribute to the memory of V.I.Lenin .May Day celebrations and the victory over fascism are land marks in the history of the struggles of the international working class and the anti-fascist front against Hitlerite Germany.-Here in Sudan ideological and political contradictions are getting sharper. The continuing efforts by the SCP, and its allies,to widen and deepen the democratic process,to achieve a comprehensive just and democratic peace,to establish justice for the victims of the dictatorial regime and to solve the economic crisis are gaining momentum.-These efforts are met with severe resistance from the forces of reaction.Coupled with this is the menacing intervention by imperialism and its allies in the area to abort the gains of the people.-The struggle of the Sudanese masses continue to protect and promote the gains already achieved, through stubborn and united actions to establish the complete civilian rule.

Editorialhe Communist and Workers&39#; Parties, which co-sign this Joint Statement, would like to express a common global position on the occasion of the first of May InternationalLabor Day. Despite the fact that this year&39#;s workers&39#; mobilizations will not be as

massive as in previous years, due to the effects of the Covid19- epidemic, workers will use many forms of struggle to honor their International Labor Day as a strike day, and will project their goals and demands, to oppose capitalist exploitation. Our communist and worker parties organize diverse activities in this occasion in addition of international activities, and this universal Statement is one of them.In this year, at a time when the impact of the Covid19 epidemic is getting stronger and the public health system in the most capitalist countries is failing and cannot protect human safety.Millions of workers have lost their jobs, and labor rights are abolished, thousands of workers, especially the elderly are at risk of losing their lives, and health systems are powerless in the face of this epidemic, the world economy is in big crisis, while the capitalist governments helps the large monopolistic capitalist firms by giving trillions dollars to their companies to protect Capitalism systems, and leaves millions who are suffering from poverty, unemployment and marginalizationThe new global crisis is not a result of Covid19 epidemic. We as the Communist andWorkers&39#; parties estimate that this crisis is the result of the insurmountable contradictions of the exploitative system, while the emergence of Covid19 epidemic emphasizes the class character of the anti-popular policy of bourgeois governments and Capitalist market economy which neglected policies that serve health and the environment and scientific research. In this new situation we fight as communist and labor parties in our countries against dictatorships, the extreme right, the new fascism and in general capitalist regimes that exploit the working class and other popular strata. We are fighting against the imperialist plans and interventions of the USA, NATO, the EU and their allies. At the same time, we are fighting together for socialism which will establish realdevelopment, which will serve the people&39#;s needs and the cause of peace, will abolish the exploitation of man by man.Capitalism is not the end of history, and the communist and workers&39#; parties seek to coordinate the international struggle to overthrow it.The struggle for peace, workers&39#; rights, save environment, public health protection, ending of poverty and unemployment needs workers&39#; power, Socialism, and the joint struggle of the Communist and Workers&39#; parties, of the working class and the peoples. The first day of May the International Labor Day remains to motive our fighting forsocialism which is the bright future of humanity.

150th Anniversary of the birth of V.I. Lenin Joint Statement of Communist and Workers› Parties on the

WE HONOR THE GREAT REVOLUTIONARY LEADER V.I.WE HONOR THE GREAT REVOLUTIONARY LEADER V.I.LENIN, WE ARE COMMITTED TO CONTINUING HIS WORKLENIN, WE ARE COMMITTED TO CONTINUING HIS WORK !!

he Communist and Workers› Parties, which co-sign this Joint Statement, would like also in this way to honor a great revolutionary and theorist of scientific socialism, Vladimir Ilyich Lenin, as April 22 marks the 150th anniversary of his birth. Especially in the current conditions, and while the pandemic of

CoVID19- is spreading, tragically demonstrating the great shortages of health systems in capitalist countries as well as the anti-social and parasitic nature of the capitalist system, in the face of the new crisis, the burdens of which will be again put on the workers› shoulders, the aggressive nature of capitalism and the escalation of imperialist competitions, which pose new dangers to peace and peoples, we feel an even greater need to refer to the historical physiognomy of V.I. Lenin. A personality that dedicated his life to the cause of the working class and other popular strata, to the struggle for the abolition of exploitation and the construction of the socialist society. We honor V.I. Lenin as the founder of the contemporary working-class party, the «party of a new type», which was firmly separated from the opportunism and apostasy of the old social-democratic parties. Such was the Bolshevik Party, which was at the forefront of the class struggle of the proletariat and the other oppressed strata of Russia. Lenin›s party led Russia›s working class to victory by overthrowing the exploiting classes and establishing the dictatorship of the proletariat, the workers› and peasants› government, in the service of the interests of the many, the exploited and the oppressed. V.I. Lenin defined and substantiated the leading role of the Communist Party, not only in establishing workers› power but also in constructing socialism. We honor V.I. Lenin as the theorist who, taking into account the particular reality, further developed the constituent parts of Marxism, i.e. philosophy, political economy, and scientific communism. As an opponent of any opportunistic and revisionist distortion of revolutionary theory and practice, dogmatism, sectarianism, and parliamentary illusions, without denying the intervention through the parliament. His works, such as «What the friends of the people are and how they fight the Social- Democrats», «The Development of Capitalism in Russia», «What Is to Be Done», «Two Tactics of Social-Democracy in the Democratic Revolution», «Materialism and Empirio-Criticism», «Marxism and Revisionism», «The Collapse of the Second International», «Socialism and War», «On the Slogan for the United States of Europe», «Imperialism, the Highest Stage ofCapitalism», «The State and Revolution», «The April Theses», «Left-Wing Communism: An Infantile Disorder», «The Immediate Tasks of the Soviet Government», and «The Great Initiative» are milestones in the propagation and development of Marxism and revolutionary struggle. Lenin›s valuable theoretical work is still timely and serves as a beacon for the ideological-political education and action of every new generation of revolutionaries. We honor V.I. Lenin as the leader of the Great October Socialist Revolution, which about a century ago shook the world. The victorious revolution illuminated the power of the class struggle, the power of the exploited and the oppressed -when they take the case of their interests into their own hands and turn the wheel of history forward- in the direction of social liberation. The October flame led and accelerated the establishment of a number of Communist and revolutionary Workers› parties. Lenin had an insightful strategic ability and skillfully handled alliances, abilities that he devoted to the cause of the socialist revolution. We honor V.I. Lenin as the leader of the world›s first socialist state, which for the first time established

T

workers› power based on new revolutionary institutions, such as the Soviets, sought the economic functioning of society on a new basis, the basis of the satisfaction of contemporary people›s needs and the multi-faceted free development of all people, not the profitability of the few. The USSR, the first socialist state in the world, which was realized with the special contribution of V.I. Lenin, brought to the fore new unprecedented economic, social, political, and cultural achievements for the working class and the wider popular strata that had a profound effect on historical progressive developments around the world. It was a support to the peoples in the struggle for socialism and peace. We honor V.I. Lenin as the great internationalist, the leader who raised the flag of proletarian internationalism against the treacherous attitude of the Second International during the imperialist World War I, opposed bourgeois nationalism and other bourgeois views such as the cosmopolitanism of the capital, and led the establishment of the Third Communist International, which made a major contribution to the international labor and communist movement and today is a basic source for drawing useful lessons from the experience it accumulated through its action. Lenin›s positions on colonialism led the Communists to understand the issue of colonies and inspired them to lead the anti-colonial struggles, both in colonial countries and colonies. We honor V.I. Lenin as the tireless and consistent opponent of the imperialist war, the defender of peoples› struggle for national and social liberation, social justice, peace, and socialism. The counter-revolution and capitalist restoration cannot conceal the achievements of Socialism. The disasters and injustice we are experiencing, the acute problems and the suffering of the working class, the small-middle strata, the peasantry and the peoples overall caused by capitalist exploitation and oppression, emphasize the necessity and timeliness of socialism all over the world. The Communist and Workers› Parties denounce the wave of silence as well as the reactionary and anti-communist distortion that has been unleashed around the world by the political forces that serve the interests of the capital against V.I. Lenin to the workersand the youth. We struggle for the continuation of his work, we are committed to continue defending and propagating his legacy and we call on the workers and the people to learn from it.

75he victory over Nazi-fascism in the Second World War is a major event in History, the memory of which must be preserved and defended in the face of repeated attempts at historical falsification aimed at making us forget the decisive role played by the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, by the communists and by

anti-fascists from around the world.Generated by capitalism, Nazi-fascism was the most violent and terroristic manifestation of monopoly capital. It was responsible for the outbreak of this war of aggression and plunder that caused close to 75 million deaths, of which approximately 27 million were Soviet citizens, and for the immeasurable suffering and horror of the Nazi concentration camps. The peoples can also not forget dark pages, such as the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki by the USA, without any military justification, which represented a display of power and of their world-wide hegemonistic ambitions. The Second World War (1945-1939) was the result of increasingly acute inter-imperialist contradictions and, at the same time, of the intention to destroy the first Socialist State, the USSR, which was namely expressed in the support and connivance of the United Kingdom, France and the United States with the rearmament and expansionist ambition of Nazi Germany. In commemorating the 75th anniversary of the historic Victory on May 1945 ,9, the undersigned communist and workers&39#; parties, certain in the knowledge that they portray the feelings and aspirations of workers and peoples from all over the world:- Pay tribute to all those who gave their lives on the battlefields against the Nazi-fascist hordes and in particular to

the heroism of the resistance movements and anti-fascist fighters and to the heroic Soviet people and Red Army, led by the Communist Party, whose contribution, written in heroic pages such as the battles of Moscow, Leningrad andStalingrad, was decisive for the Victory over barbarism; - Consider that the Victory over Nazi Germany and its allies in the Anti-Comintern Pact was achieved thanks to the decisive contribution of the USSR, to the class nature of the Soviet power with the participation of the masses of the people, to the leading role of the Communist Party, to the superiority which was displayed by the Socialist system. That victory is an enormous historical legacy of the revolutionary movement; - Value the outstanding advances in the social and national emancipation of the workers and peoples that the Victory and the resulting advancement of the forces of social progress and peace made possible, extending the sphere of socialism within the countries of Europe, Asia and Latin America, creating the conditions for the advance of the labourmovement in capitalist countries, the sweeping development of the national liberation movement and the resulting liquidation of colonial empires;- Denounce and condemn the campaigns that aim to belittle, distort and even deny, the role of the USSR and of the communists in the defeat of Nazi-fascism and also to unjustly and falsely blame the Soviet Union for starting the Second World War, to expunge the responsibilities of big capital and the governments at its service in the promotion and riseof fascism and in unleashing the war, and whitewash and rehabilitate fascism, while destroying the monuments and memory of the liberating Soviet army, promoting anti- communism and criminalizing communists and other anti-fascists;- Denounce and condemn the EU’s anti-communist resolutions and the slanderous historical falsification which attempts to equate socialism with the fascist monster;- Warn that the most reactionary and aggressive sectors of imperialism are increasingly viewing fascism and war as a “way out” of the deepening crisis of the capitalist system, whose inhuman character becomes particularly obvious when, even in the face of the very serious epidemic outbreak of Covid19-, imperialism, the USA, NATO, the EU and its alliescapitalist powers, continue a criminal policy of blockades and aggressions against countries and peoples;- Consider that the struggle for peace, social progress and socialism are inseparable; and make a commitment to seek a stronger common action of the working class, of the workers and peoples of the world, of the political forces engaged in blocking the path to fascism and in the struggle against imperialism, imperialist aggressions and a new war of tragic proportions. The situation with which the workers and peoples of the world are confronted underlines the importance of strengthening the struggle against imperialism, for the sovereignty of the peoples and the independence of States, for the rights of the workers and peoples, as leading forward to the revolutionary overcoming of the capitalist system, a system which breeds fascism, war, the injustices, dangers and contradictions of the present. As it was 75years ago, it is today the struggle of the communists and all those facing capitalist exploitation and oppression that will open the way for the future for Humanity.

resident Trump touted the guidelines as a blueprint for a reawakening of the economy, saying growth would soar like a “rocket ship” after the restart. However, experts have stated that the guidelines and ways in which activity will be

revved will be anything but smooth and speedy, and will have many casualties.States may be ready to reawaken life and end lockdown once infections rate has declined for 14 straight days, the availability of tests is stable or rising, and there is enough hospital capacity for everyone who gets sick, the guidelines say.How many states meet the criteria? None. Not one of the fifty U.S. states currently has surveillance capabilities sufficient to enable case-based interventions at the necessary scale, and The White House guidelines don’t provide any information on how to get there. Not to mention that the meetings and rollout of the president’s “Opening Our Country Council” – in which he assigned his daughter and son-in-law as advisors- were reportedly beset by confusion and chaos as the White House announced a series of calls with executives on Tuesday night without consulting participants, many of whom had preexistingcommitments on quarterly earnings they could not reschedule. There was a wide consensus by the executives that more testing was needed before the economy could reopen. Among those who made the point that the testing was necessary to

track who was infected and who might have immunity before returning employees to work sites was Jeffrey P. Bezos, the chief executive of Amazon. President Trump has disregardedthis by saying that “testing is under control” CEOs will go along with Trump’s plan to force employees into workplaces against the advice of public health experts, killing many—for the sole purpose of juicing the stock market and his re-election effort— it is anessential need to address the liability companies should and will face if employees got sick after returning to work Progressives derided the latest failure by the president to put together acoherent response to the ongoing economic and public health crises brought on by the pandemic and noted the reporting from the Times on the calls and task force had highlighted concerns from CEOs that they could be liable for forcing employees back to work. We stand with the people of America as they should not endure having their lives risked by a cult of capitalists in order to save the economy and keep the stock market chugging.

The Spread of Violence In AfricaThe Spread of Violence In Africa ince the US Africa Command began operations in 2008,the number of US military personnel on the African continent has jumped %170 from less than two thousands to 7000.The number of military missions, activities, programs and excercises has

risen %1900 from 172 to 3500.drone strikes have soared and the number of commandos deployed has increased exponentially along with the size and scope of AFRICOMs constellation bases. -The US has recently conducted 36 named operations and activities in Africa, more than in any other region of the world, including the Greater Middle East.Troops are scattered across regularly advise, train, and partner with local forces, gather intelligence ,conduct, surveillance and carry out air strikes and ground raids focused on» countering violent groups» on the continent. -AFRICOM› ‹disrupts and neutralize transnational threats» in order to «promote regional security, stability and prosperity» according to its mission statement. But since Africom began ,key indicators of security and stability in Africa have plummeted according to the Defence Departments Africa Centre For Strategic Studies, a Pentagon research institution,» Overall militant Islamist groups activity in Africa has doubled since 2012» according to a recent analysis by the Africa Centre. -There are now roughly 24 ‹active militant Islamist groups» operating in the continent,up from just 5 groups in 2010,the analysis found.Today 13 African countries face attacks from these groups, a %160 increase over the same time span In fact, the number of «violent attacks» across the continent has jumped from 288 in 2009 to 35000 in 2018, according to Africa Centres analysis..While a variety of factors have likely contributed to the rise in violence, some experts say that the overlap between the commands presence and growing unrest is not a coincidence. -»» The sharp increase in terrorist incidents

in Africa underscores the fact that Pentadons overly militarized approach to the problem has been a clear failure›said one expert. If anything attempting to eradicate terrorism by force may be exacerbating the problem, provoking a terrorist backlash and serving as a recruiting tool. -In Somalia over the last

decade,Africom has conducted hundreds of air strikes and commando missions there, and claims an enemy body count of approximately 1,100

terrorists, primarily members of AL Shabab. The number of US air attacks has sky rocketed of late, jumping from 14 under Obama in 2016 to 47 under Trump.Yet the Pentagons own analysis found that violent episodes involving Al Shabab represent roughly %50 of all militant Islamist group activity in Africa and that this «rate has remained consistent over the past decade». -In October 2017 members of the Islamic State in the Greater Sahara or ISGS,ambushed American troops, near the border of the Sahelian states of Mali and Niger, killing four US soldiers and wounding two others.Just after the attack,Africom claimed the troops were paroviding»advice and

assistance» to local partners, but it was later revealed that the American

S

commandos operating along side a Nigerian force had, until poor weather intervened, hoped to link with another contingent of US special operators trying to kill or capture a leading terrorist. -Despite these and several other long-running US military efforts in the region, militant groups in the Sahel have grown more active and their attacks more frequent, according to the African Centre. In fact» violent episodes»linked to groups associated with Al Gaeda in the Islamic Maghreb or AQIM and ISGS increased from 192 in 2017 to 469 last year.At the same time, fatalities linked to these groups more than doubled from from 527 to 1278. -This is especially significant in light of a 2000 report prepared under the auspices of the US Army War Colleges Strategic Studies Institute, which examined the: African security environment».While noting the existence of «internal separatist or rebel movements» in «weak states» as well as militias and «war lords armies», it made no mention of Islamic groups or major transnational terror threats Now the African Centre counts 24 «activemilitant Islamic groups» on the continent, while official tallies have,in recent years, put the figure at nearly 50 terrorist organizations and illist groups of all types. -Neither the Pentagon nor Africom are ready to challenge these facts. But it is clear that the presence of and military actions of AFRICOM in the continent have contributed to the rise of violence in Africa.

hen the whites catch the novel coronavirus, the blacks die.Thousands of white Americans have died from the virus, but the pace at which African Americans are dying has transformed this public-health crisisinto an object lesson in racial and class inequality.

According to a Reuters report, African-Americans are more likely to die of covid19- than any other group in the U.S. It is still early in the course of the pandemic, and the demographic data is incomplete, but the partial view is enough to prompt a sober reflection on this bitter harvest of American racism. For instance, in Louisiana, African-Americans, who are only thirty-three per cent of the state’s population, comprise seventy per cent of the dead. In the small city of Albany, Georgia, more than twelve hundred people in the county have confirmed covid19- cases, and at least seventy-eight people have died. According to earlier reports, eighty-one per cent of the dead are African-American. In Michigan, African-Americans make up fourteen per cent of the state’s population, but, currently, they account for thirty-three per cent of its reported infections and forty per cent of its deaths. Twenty-six per cent of the state’s infections and twenty-five per cent of deaths are in Detroit, a city that is seventy-nine per cent African-American We cannot simply point to the prevalence of certain health conditions(diabetes, asthma, heart disease, and obesity) among African-Americans as the most important explanation for their rising death rates. But it’s important also to acknowledge the federal government’s failure to respond to the pandemic. Covid19- testing remains maddeningly inconsistent and unavailable, with access breaking down along the predictable lines; a scientist at Drexel University found that, in areas with a “lower proportion of minorities and higher incomes,” a higher number of tests were administered. In areas with a higher number of unemployed and uninsured residents, there were fewer tests. Taken together, testing in higher-income neighborhoods is six times greater than it is in poorer neighborhoods. The speed at which the pandemic has consumed black communities isshocking, but it also provides a look into the dynamics of race and class that existed long before it emerged. The most futile conversation in the U.S. is the argument about whether race or class is the main impediment toAfrican-American social mobility. In reality, they cannot be separated fromeach other. African-Americans are suffering through this crisis not onlybecause of racism but also because of how racial discrimination has tiedthem to the bottom of the U.S. class hierarchy.Fewer than twenty per cent of African-Americans have jobs that allow them to work at home. The intersecting threats of hunger, eviction, and unemployment drive poor and working-class African-Americans toward the possibility of infection. Not to mention that there is a concentration of African-Americans in situations where social distancing is impossible, likeprisons, jails, and homeless shelters. They make up the majority of the incarcerated and the homeless.Poverty, in turn, reinforces ideological assumptions about race. There is an overabundance of attention placed on the diagnosis and repair of supposedly damaged African-Americans. And even when poverty is not the issue, racism or racially inflected assumptions about African-Americansinfluence the ways that they are cared for within the health-care industry.Discrimination against African-American patients is so embedded in health-care practices that a national study found that, even when hospitals and insurers relied on an algorithm to manage care, African-American patients received on average eighteen hundred dollars less of care per year than white patients with the same chronic health conditions. African-Americans had to be sicker than whites before they were referred for more specializedhelp. We stand together with the African-Americans people until the the deep, historical, and continuing harm done to black people is repaired. We stand in solidarity with them and demand deep, abiding transformations.

opposition an IMF deal signed last year.Chilean workers and students revolted against the governments implementation of World Bank/IMF economic instructions. -The latest mass protest actions including national strike were met by use of excessive force and crack down on peaceful demonstrators in Ecuador. These actions flared-up over the unpopular structural economic reforms.Workers, students and indigenous people took to the streets in the capital Quito and other major cities protesting against the governments decision to cut fuel subsidies as part of a package of measures in line with 4.2 billion USD IMF loan. -»What the government has done is reward the big banks and capitalists, and punish poor Ecuadoreans»said the Workers United Front,an umbrella union in a statement. -The demonstrators stepped up their demands to call for the resignation of the president. They stated that the government is behaving like a «military dictatorship» by declaring state of emergency and ordering an over night curfew. -Protesters barricaded various parts of Ecuador, while security forces blocked bridges to stop protest marches in Guayaquil. - The demonstrators main demand remains;the withdrawal of the fuel subsidy cut, which has sent transport and food prices soaring, though workers unions continue to demand the resignation of the president. - The protests continue through marches, barricading roads and burning tires, while the security has responded with armored cars and live ammunition and tear gas.

THE STRUGGLE CONTINUES

ne man was killed after violent clashes in Tripoli in northern Lebanon, and dozens were wounded after the army used live fire ,rubber- coated rounds and tear gas to»clear» angry protesters. -Thousands of protesters across Lebanon blocked roads, attacked banks and marched through the streets during the

few days in response to the local currencys rapid devolution, which has led millions to loose more than half of the value of their salaries and savings. -Coronovirus brought a lull in the protest movement which started last October, but governments mishandling of the crisis has deepened the sufferings of the people.»We are coming back» this was the cry and slogan of the new wave mass demonstrations. -All major cities are witnessing a renewal great mass protests. The rampant corruption, extreme inequality.regressive tax system, rapidly deteriorating standards of living and almost non-existent social safety network, all of that is driving millions of Lebanese people to the streets in protest against the political system -The coronavirus crisis has only exposed and exacerbated the problems in Lebanon. The governments failures became evident and the protest marches are back demanding immediate change. -The sectarian system that has prevailed since the civil war in the seventies, whereby political dole out benefits its supporters -which was somewhat navigable in good times- has stopped working for the majority - and all the flows of that post war system have burst out into centre stage as the government has proven itself unable to provide even the most basic needs for the population. -Observers stress that Lebanon is suffering its most-ever financial crisis that has led to a dollar shortage, which in turn has seen the Lebanese pound tumble by more than %60. -Lebanons protests began as largely peaceful uprising last year, when hundreds of thousands took to the streets to demand political change an end to the endemic corruption that sapped state resources. But over the last few days, they have become more desperate as people struggle to make ends meet and secure basic needs, including food. -The recent fury and fare up,does not change neither the character nor the demands of the protest movement. It is all about hanging the political corrupt system which based on sectarianism ad continued foreign intervention from regional powers,Iran and Saudia Arabia,So, the struggle will continue for a radical change towards a civil democratic secular state that will respond and reflect the just aspirations and demands of the people.

Conn Hallinanhile the coronavirus has focused much of the world on Europe and the United States, India may eventually prove the hardest-hit victim of the disease. The government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has done little to confront the crisis.

In fact it adopted a slippery public relations campaign and few bad policy moves that increased the spread of the virus. One of that is a sudden -21day nationwide shutdown on March 24, which made middle class Indians to pour into the streets to stock up on food and medicines, almost certainly accelerating the spread of COVID19-. It also resulted in joblessness and created chaos as people were trying to go to their villages while the public transportation was shutdown. To make things worse, Modi and his right-wing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have silenced much of the media by using a combination of financial pressure and outright censorship. Newspapers and broadcast outlets are not in a position to criticize the government’s policy lest they lose government advertising, a major source of revenue. Reporters Without Borders rates India a lowly 140 out of 180 countries on its press freedom index.Modi’s government is violating the Indian constitution by his move to redefine “citizenship” in a way that excludes Muslims. The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet, called the law a violation of several international agreements that India is a party to.India’s public health system is fragile at the best of times, with only 0.5 hospital beds for every 1,000 people. In contrast, Italy has almost seven times that figure. However, the Rural India Online is one important independent outlet reporting on the Covid19- crisis, especially the rural dwellers who make up 70 percent of the population. P. Sainath, the PARI’s founder and editor is sharply critical of the Modi government’s actions, reported: the massive number of hungry poor who have taken to the roads to return home, cancer patients sleeping outside of hospitals in the hope of getting treatment, day laborers who cannot afford to miss any work, few sanitation workers have been provided with gloves or masks, hand sanitizers are too expensive, and social distancing is impossible as public toilets have to be shared with hundreds of people etc.For the past 30 years Indian governments — right and center — have cut back on health care and privatized much of the system. Health expenditures is around 1.2 percent (as a share of the GDP) in the world. Almost a quarter of a million Indians die each year of tuberculosis and 100,000 children from diarrhea. Health expenditures across India today are possibly the fastest growing component of rural family debt.A large and strong far-right Hindu fundamentalist organization that is profoundly hierarchical and secretive is the real power behind Modi’s oppression of protesters by killings and assassinations.COVID19- may change the widening gap between rich and poor if demands for immediate distribution of surplus grains, a shift from cash crops to food crops, and the nationalization of private medical facilities nationwide are to be addressed. Now the climate change is producing conditions that favor the growth of diseases like the corona virus and vector-driven pathogens like dengue and malaria. The next pandemic is just around the corner, and unless there is a concentrated effort to make health care a human right, it is only a matter of time before the next mega-killer strikes.Source:https://portside.org/19-04-2020/coronavirus-comes-india

Algeria:3,517,1,527,1,556,423.Burkina Faso 42,,635,124,496 deaths.Cameroon,1,765,842,805,97 deaths.-Africa has passed the grim milestone of 30,000 reported cases of coronavirus along with more than 2000 deaths..According to the African Centre For Disease Control and Prevention»ACDC›.-As daily numbers of new infections appears to be falling in Europe,it seems the epicentre of the virus could move to the continent.-Despite the efforts to lockdown cities, despite donations of protective equipment, testing kits, and ventilators from China, one thing is clear ; Africa has not flattened the curve and the room for manoeunvre is limited..-Nearly all African countries have reported cases, and while most began with patients bringing the virus in through international travel,it is now spreading within communities.-In South Africa, beginning of April ,saw a ten fold increase n the number of confirmed cases. But what is significant is the rise in testing capabilities in S.A. compared to the rest of the continent.-Africa could become the next epicentre of the virus outbreak, the WHO has warned.UN officials also say it is likely the pandemic will kill at least 300,000 people in Africa and push 30 millions into poverty.-The UN Economic Commission for Africa, called for a 100 bn USD safty net for the continent.,including halting external debt payments.-The WHO says the virus appears to be spreading away from African capitals. It has also highlighted that the continent lacks ventilators to deal with a pandemic. It is worth stressing that more than a third of Africa population lacks access to adequate water supplies and nearly %60 of urban dwellers live in overcrowded slums, conditions where the virus could thrive.-North Africa,so far,is the worst affected region,Algeria,Egypt and Morocco have all had more than 2500 cases, and at least over 300 deaths.Algeria has had the most deaths with over 410.Elsewhere South Africa has also had over 2500 cases, with over hundred deaths, while Nigeria has had 650 cases and 46 deaths out of a population of over 200 millions.-the WHO has stated that medical facilities in Africa are far behind international standards.Qualified medical staff, doctors and nurses, are attracted by high salaries .to work in Europe and North America .Health systems are weak and fragile, and can hardly cope with the spread of the virus.Suffice to mention that for every one million patient in Africa, there are four beds in intensive care units, while in Europe for every one million patient there are 5,000 beds..So, even with far better equipment and medical facilities the USA and Europe have both failed to cope with the spread of coronavieus.-The WHO has stated that the virus is spreading from the big cities to the «hinterland» in South Africa,Nigeria.Ivory Coast,Cameroon and Ghana.- Some of the African governments are using heavy handed tactics to impose health regulations. These tactics, condemned by the UN include shouting, detaining and abusing people. At the same time African people living in Guangzhou in China face arbitrary arrests and racial discrimination, accused of the spread of the virus.
