DETAILS AND DATA

Purpose of visit:

This inspection was completed in reference to GEK 97310 Vol I, Chapter 5-3.5.

Daily Activities

Friday, 19 Oct 2012 Units are original packages that were removed and moved to warehouse. Engine was kept at warehouse almost 1 year without preservation. HP compressor, combustor and HP turbine borescope ports were removed. Only 1 fuel nozzle were removed and inspected. Found it in good shape. Feeder tubes are fine. Clearance is correct. HP compressor was found fairly dirty but no anomaly detected. T2/PT2 Probe: was secure and no damage, corrosion or obstructions were observed The inner and outer panels are fully intact with no distortion or other defects noted. No distortion was visible in the dome plate and the dome plate inner and outer overhangs were fully intact with no cracks or missing material. Thermal barrier coat was missing from numerous trumpet splash plates in varying degrees and some slight erosion was noted on the edges of the trumpet splash plates in the area were the thermal barrier coat is missing. Found a crack at 6 o’clock position on inner liner, out of limits. See picture. Some erosion and discoloration was found. 1st stage HPT blades: nothing abnormal was observed on flow path concave side and leading edges. Some loss of coating was detected. 2nd stage HPT blades: nothing abnormal was observed on flow path concave side and leading edges.

1st stage HPT nozzles: Cooling holes on HP S1 nozzles are mostly clogged. See picture… PT was visually inspected. First stage blades as thoroughly as possible without rotating the power

turbine (inspection was made using a flexible borescope through the Pt5.4 ports). No cracking, nicks, dents, corrosion or erosion was observed. Both igniters have been removed and inspected. No anomaly found. Engine external status: engine shows an external dirtiness in general.
