Literacy

I wonder if today you could make you very own role play area? You could use fancy dress costumes old boxes, toys etc to create a spaceship, or a pirate ship, or a fairy land or anything you can imagine!!

What will you make? Make sure to act out your adventure! You could even make up your own story! Here are some ideas of role play areas…

Maths

Today the mermaids, pirates, dragons and fairies from the story would like you to try this activty to help you with your shape naming skills.please start today on level 1. We will play the other levels over the next few days. Access the game here https://www.topmarks.co.uk/ordering-and-sequencing/shape-patterns

Expressive arts and design Today on your exercise walk or from your garden (alternatively you could use a pencil) please find a stick that you could turn into a magic wand. When you get home try to decorate your stick with anything you have around your house. You could use paint, stickers, string, wool, beads, ribbons etc. here are some stick wands to give you some ideas.I wonder what your first magic spell will be?

Understanding of the world The fairies from the story love playing with colours they especially love rainbows- today they want you to do a science experiment with sweets!!

Skittle experiment…Using skittles or a similar sweet we are going to do a science experiment. We are going to put skittles on a plate and add a little bit of water. What do you think will happen? Why do you think that? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A0OzaENb4uUhere is a video that shows you how to do the experiment- keep this to yourself DO NOT SHOW YOUR CHILD THIS- otherwise it will ruin the experiment’s awe and wonder reaction. Copy the experiment from the video and see what happens over a period of an hour or so. What happened? Ask your child to try to explain what they can see and why they think that happened?

Name practise – please also use this time to practise name writing with your child every day. You could follow some of the advice on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=swwxOB4MS-YPlease do not get your child to write their full name in capitals only a capital at the beginning the rest lower case. This week let’s see if you can either use some bingo dabbers to make your name or some cotton buds dipped in paint.

ICT linksBusythings under the home links folder you can use Busypaint and Publisher to your teddy/ favourite toy.
