Fission is a leading Chinese digital entertainment media company. Its live streaming platforms 7nujoom and Haahi recruit Arabic and Turkish speaking talents from all over the world to provide entertaining live broadcasts to their user base. Localized digital gifts, face eects, a premium membership system and useful broadcast tools such as user and host lists are all developed per the local culture and customs. Fission’s streaming platforms 7Nujoom and Haahi are some of the most popular in the Middle Eastern and African region: in total, the platforms have over 8 million users in the region.
ABOUT FISSION
Fission’s market strategy is to provide localized versions of live streaming platforms for each market in which they operate. In addition to language localization and local talent, Fission also felt the need to provide their users with payment solutions that were familiar, convenient and available to as many people in each market as possible.
In the MENA region, card-based payments are used by a smaller percentage of the user base to make payments compared to other, more mature regions of the world such as Western Europe and North America.
The reason for this is that in countries like Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, credit card penetration is only at around 10%. Fission decided to integrate carrier billing to its MENA region streaming platforms to cover the rest of the audience, as carrier billing is available to any mobile phone owner with a prepaid or postpaid SIM card.
