Cinematography & Camera Techniques

The camera techniques they have used are when they get close to the window when they are going through it and also when they are looking at the book and they get closer to the book so you can see the writing but not close enough that you can read what the writing says. This gives the audience the impression that something bad is going to happen in the house and when they do a close up of the book you get the idea that something’s wrote in the book or they are writing stuff in the book during the film.

Visual Effects & Colour Scheme

For visual effects are when there in the woods and the hands come up out of the ground and tis gives the audience the idea that it might have something to do with zombies or people getting killed. Also there’s a clip when there in the woods and a werewolf in the woods and it’s looking in one direction then turns and looks straight at you and in the next scene there’s two hands out each side with a spinning blade in the middle and in most horror films there’s always a murder and the blade shows that there’s going to be murders, the werewolf and zombie show that it might have some sort of supernatural theme to it.

Genre Conventions Most communally in horror film it’s based in a haunted house or creepy place like an insane asylum. The music is slightly low all the way through it, the style of music they used was violins to give it a more creepier feel. There was low lighting throughout the whole clip but they stayed with the colours black and white to give it a more scarier and sinister feel instead of putting in into colour which wouldn’t give it the same effect.

Narrative At the beginning of the film you see an old house in the middle of the woods and this gives the audience an idea that the film is going to be set at the house and also in the woods. When you see the hand and the werewolf in the woods this shows that they are all linked together in some way which gives it a kind of mysteries affect to it because you don’t know how it is.

Editing Techniques Throughout the whole scene everything is moving slowly which gives it a scarier feel to it and it makes the audience think about what might happen in the film and if it moved to fast then it wouldn’t have the same effect. In the first few scenes there aren’t any clips just dark and writing this makes the audience think what might happen because there’s nothing there to give them any idea of what might be happening in the film.

Title Credit Design For the credit design they have used a black background with little red squares on it which gives it a Sci-Fi effect. The writing on it is bright white and it makes you think that it might be a light shining through it but in corners it’s faded also all the writing is in capital letters. The opening title credits are small, white very close together and all the same height and all in capital letters which makes it easier to read.
