Fidelity Life’s e-App is the future of doing business.

With its built-in intuitive underwriting engine, e-App can deliver on the spot decisions and cut processing time for complex applications. Plus clever features such as self-populating doctor details and address fields and an automatically generated policy number make your job easier and faster.

In the long run, it all adds up to saving time for you and your clients – and that’s smart.

The following guide will help you get started.

Introduction

2

Before you can access the e-App, you’ll need to create a valid illustration with the following information for each life insured (1A):

• First and last name

• Date of birth

• Title

• Gender

• Occupation (important)

• Payment Frequency (this can not be changed after you begin the e-App)

• Relevant cover details

Once the illustration has been created, the Online Application button will be enabled at the top of the page (1B). Click to begin.

Policy owner identification

First you’ll need to confirm the policy owner details brought through from the illustration. All fields will need to be completed.

To add an additional owner, click Add Owner - Individual for an individual, or Add Owner - Organisation to add a company (2A).

Relationship For each additional owner, you will need to add a relationship between the new owner and the life assured (2B) (2C).

Mail recipient Select the mail recipient and click Next (2D).

Residency confirmation Next you need to confirm the residency status of the life assured. If the life assured is applying for a nib health product and does not meet the nib residency rules then you will be prompted to remove the health products from the application before proceeding (2E).

Existing customer information

You now need to capture any existing policies that your client has with Fidelity Life. You also need to identify if the new policy is replacing the existing policy, or if the existing policy is being retained (2F).

If they don’t have any existing policies with Fidelity Life then leave the option as No and click Next (2F).

Otherwise e-App will search Fidelity Life’s systems for any existing client records based on the client information (2G). After selecting an existing customer or No match from the returned results (2H), click Begin e-App to start (2I).

NB: After you click the e-App button you will not be able to edit the illustration further. This includes the payment frequency and cover details.

Progress bar and navigation functions

Navigation menu The progress bar on the left will indicate where you are at in the four-step application process:

Step One Complete all personal details, doctor details and all application questions for the underwriting process.

Step Two Confirm the policy owner details. The information will be automatically populated if the life assured is also the policy owner.

Step Three Confirm the policy payment details.

Step Four Review all client answers before submitting the application to Fidelity Life.

As you successfully complete each section, the red cross icon will change to a green tick.

Multiple lives If there are multiple lives on the same application, each life must be completed separately during the application process – one after the other. This lets the e-App dynamically underwrite the client based on the answers one life at a time.

Navigation buttons Use the Next, Save and Back buttons to navigate between pages of the application form. The application form automatically saves each time you click Next. Or you can save it manually and return to it later if you need to. If you click Save, or if the system crashes during the application process, the application will be available from the Adviser Centre.

3. Completing an e-App(3A)

5

Completing all sections

The e-App ensures all questions are answered to fully underwrite an application. Mandatory fields are marked with a red asterisk and must be completed before proceeding (3B).

Smart search functions

Address search The e-App contains a smart search tool that lets you search for a client’s address in the Search Mailing field. The address search tool also contains PO Box addresses.

Once selected, the system will automatically populate the address fields.

Repeat the same address search in the separate physical address field if required, or copy the mailing address to the physical address by clicking the Copy Mailing to Physical button.

Doctor search Our doctor search tool lets you easily look up your client’s doctor by entering the doctor’s first or last name or the name of the medical practice. Once selected, the details will be automatically populated.

Duty of Disclosure

After you have completed the doctor’s details, click Next to progress to the Duty of Disclosure list (3C). Go through this with your client before proceeding to the underwriting and application questions. Tick the box to confirm Duty of Disclosure and start completing the application questions.

Underwriting questions

Depending on the amount of cover and the type of cover the client is applying for, the questions will be dynamic and specific to what is being applied for.

Quick tip: Hover over a blue question mark to see further details about the specific question

Quick links After completing each section, the section heading will appear at the top of the page so you can easily go back and edit answers if you need to (3D).

Dynamic questions The e-App will dynamically ask questions based on the client’s previous answers, so you will only see a question if an answer is required.

If you are applying to more than one other insurer, click Add to complete a section for the second insurer (3E).

Imperial to metric conversions When completing the client’s height and weight, you will choose either imperial or metric measurements from the conversion table. One imperial measurement converts to up to three metric measurements i.e. 5ft 9ins converts to 174cm, 175cm and 176cm. If this is the case for height, select the tallest metric measurement. If the weight measurement converts to multiple imperial measurements, select the lightest imperial measurement.

Medical and occupation

Occupation Once you have typed in the client’s occupation, hit TAB on the keyboard to see a list of occupations that either match or are similar to what you have entered. Select an occupation from this box and click Replace (3F). This will increase the chance of getting an assessment decision at the point of sale. If you do not select an occupation, the application will be referred to an Underwriter to review these details.

Medical The e-App medical smart form works the same way. Type in a medical condition and the smart form will pop up with similar options. Select the correct condition and click Replace so the underwriting engine can continue to assess the medical condition accurately.

Family history

When you complete the family history section and answer Yes to the first question, a scroll bar will appear, so you can complete further details.

Select which relation had the medical condition (3G). Next select the medical condition they suffered. Finally you will select the age of onset.

If you have one family member with multiple conditions click Add, then select the same relation again and select another condition. Repeat this process for all relations and all conditions.

Client pursuits

When you complete the questions around the client’s pursuits you will be asked to answer Yes or No if they participate in any of the pursuits (3H). If Yes, you will need to complete further questions on each pursuit after you click Next.

If your client wishes to change the frequency, you will need to call New Business after you have submitted the application.

If the payment method is by Direct Debit, select the commencement date for the Direct Debit from the drop down box.

If you are also applying for nib health cover you will need to complete the nib payment details as well.

Review process

After confirming the payment details, you and your client will need to review all answered questions and tick the box for each section to confirm this has been done (3J). If you need to change an answer, click on the red section heading to return to the section (3K).
