Fibre: transforming small businesses
Improvingproductivity
Cost savings
Increasing competitive
edge
• Hosted & site based VoiP• Improved video conferencing reduces need for
travel• Eliminates need for rural businesses to relocate
to city based offices• Utilise more cloud computing resources
• Faster speeds• Send & receive
large files in seconds
• Improved home working capability
• Reliable service• Carry out bandwidth
hungry tasks simultaneously
• Enabling rural businesses to compete with city based competitors
• Improving web presence
• Improving customer experience
• Enabling expansion
The benefits speak for themselvesHaving super-fast broadband enables us to transmit data almost instantaneously, and that has helped us win contracts that would have been beyond our reach Paul Sherry, Director “ ”• Rural business, conducts energy assessments for building firms & councils
• Fibre connection means they can send and receive large files electronically & can compete successfully with city-based competitors more local to potential clients
• Ability to locate in their home town has kept office accommodation costs down & they can pop home for their lunch
We need to upload high quality photographs. Now it’s done all online and quickly. The business is already saving a lot of moneyJohn Paul Annett“ ”
• Specialist picture framers – rural, family business• Saving £6,000 per month in catalogue production and distribution costs• Able to increase number and quality of graphics on the website from 50 to 1000, and
starting to use YouTube to demonstrate their craftsmanship• Improving point-of-sale experience – electronic catalogues arrive while they speak on the
phone, not 30 minutes later
The benefits speak for themselvesHaving super-fast broadband has opened our eyes to new ways of promoting ourselves to customersRhiannon Fraser, Park Manager“ ”
• A family-owned holiday and retirement park in Perranarworthal, Cornwall• Experiencing broadband speeds fifty times faster than previous connection• Used to drive company accounts to the accountants in Falmouth, now they are emailed almost
instantaneously • Installing CCTV cameras over the fast, stable Wi-Fi connection. Before super-fast the only
option was the expensive alternative of digging trenches to fit hard-wired cameras• Using their new high-speed wi-fi zone to attract new customers to the site
We can now compete with the bigger guys but remain leaner and more flexibleSeamus Breslin, Design Manager“ ”• A print and design company
• Enjoying speeds 20 times faster than previous connection• Saving two hours a day from being able to download large artwork and image files in five
minutes instead of 15 minutes• No need to invest in an expensive back-up facility as can now optimise use of the cloud• Estimate savings of £7,500 a year on maintaining back-up systems, network and intranet
