FELLOWSHIP BIBLE CHURCH

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM-2

Course Syllabus

September 2014-April 2015

Purpose: To provide the men of Fellowship Bible Church with additional opportunities to refine

and to strengthen their spiritual leadership capabilities by focusing on the development of

desirable traits and practices.

Objectives: After completion of this course and personal application of the truths that are

taught, the student will be able to:

1. Assume a more active leadership role in his home, workplace, and church;

2. Establish and strengthen relationships with other like-minded men;

3. Participate, if otherwise qualified and called, as a member of a formal leadership team

within the church;

4. Understand at a deeper level and apply the concept that spiritual leadership is defined by

servanthood.

5. Move toward conformity to the image of Christ with greater confidence.

Core Resources:

Spiritual Leadership, J. Oswald Sanders (2007)

The Holy Bible, English Standard Version (ESV)

The Conviction to Lead, R. Albert Mohler, Jr.

Slave, John F. MacArthur, Jr.

Spiritual Leadership: Moving People on to God’s Agenda, Henry and Richard Blackaby

Concept of Presentation: The program will be open to all men of FBC, age 16 and older,

regardless of marital status. In order to ensure the best possible participation, each session will

be available on three days of every month for eight consecutive months and will be team-taught

by FBC pastors/elders. J. Oswald Sanders’ book, Spiritual Leadership, will be used as the core

resource with an emphasis on the group study guide. After the first meeting, home assignments

in the way of advance reading, preparation of responses to the study guide questions, and/or brief

papers may be required for subsequent sessions. To promote interaction among the attendees the

classes will be discussion-oriented rather than in lecture format. In order to provide additional

experience and to bolster individual confidence, opportunities will be offered for participants to

stand before the group to make brief presentations. Upon completion of the last class the course

will be evaluated and revised as necessary.
