Dear Flat Classroom® Projects Participant,
Thank you for being a part of a Flat Classroom® Project during the past five years!
These projects began as a single Flat Classroom® Project between two classrooms in
December of 2006 and now have grown to include five different projects, grades three throughtwelve or ages eight through eighteen. We have also set up a legal non-profit organization and
have run two Flat Classroom conferences in Qatar and China!
During the past five years, we have connected more than 5000 students from public,
private and international schools in more than 20 countries around the globe. Together we are
educating children using digital tools and equipping them with the creative and critical thinking
skills they will need to collaborate on a global scale during their lives by making those skills a
“right now” priority. As we say, “We are building bridges between students that our future can
walk across.” Thank you for helping us to build those bridges. Your participation is sincerely
appreciated!
In preparation for the next five years, we are celebrating the first five and you are
welcome to join in! Here are some ways:
1- Share your story. We have made a form for people to share their stories. (insert link) we
want you and your school to be part of this!
2- Make a monument. We are experimenting with the new Jibe platform and making a
permanent monument to the schools who have participated in the first 5 years. If you or your
students want to make a 3D mesh model then learn more and make sure you include the name
of your school and years of participation. Vicki will need these by August 31.
3- Present. We are starting a new series of webinars featuring you and your students called
the F.L.A.T.s. (Flat Learning Action Talks) http ://tinyurl.com /3 mddzvl We encourage you to
apply now.
4- Join a project this year! We are taking applications NOW for the year, and there are many
projects to join, including the still very new elementary level (age 8-10) ‘A Week in the Life...’
project. We are also bringing back ‘Eracism’ starting in October. More details coming soon. As
always, veteran teachers receive a discount.
