AUDENTES FORTUNA IUVAT (“fortune helps those who dare”)

Virgil 1st Century b.C.

Page 2: FAREWELL LETTERS

This year has been the most difficult one for me; I’ve been in a class with people that I didn’t want to be, with some of my oldest friends, with some good teachers and some bad ones as well. This year I will say goodbye to many partners, almost friends that maybe I’ll never see again and I am really sad about it. In this high school I met most of my friends, my boyfriend and some really good teachers. Here I laughed a lot and I cried too. I'm afraid to go, maybe that's why I will repeat, just kidding, but seriously I’m lucky to have been here all these years. I wish the future students to have a good time like I did.

Thank you!

It’s difficult to do this, you know, you get to know somebody and you have to say goodbye. Well my letter is not only dedicated to the teachers, it’s also dedicated to my partners at school. I’ve never been good at this, you know, I’ve sort of evaded long farewells, to be more accurate I evaded farewells because I don’t really know what to say. There are many things I remember from my stay in Galileo. I had a great time with some great people and well I have to acknowledge that there are some awesome people in my class with whom it is a pleasure to study and speak. For me these two school years have been really awesome and I

Page 5: FAREWELL LETTERS

would give a lot to repeat the same experience. I think I have changed for the better, learned from my experience here and I am more prepared for my future life, my future goals and most importantly, I think I’ve made progress in my Spanish socializing and now I’ve got closer to the Spanish way of thinking and living which has opened me to all sorts of people and which will maybe help me evade a lot of problems in my future life.I would like to thank everybody I came to know in the Galileo for this adventure we have lived during these two years. With best wishes

There is always a time in a man´s life when you have to leave, and you might have encountered feelings. Don´t be ashamed of those feelings, they are part of you. Galileo Galilei is a part of me as much as my own soul. A part of me is happy to go on in life, but the other wants to stay here forever. I want to make a statement: don´t give up your dreams. No matter how hard the road to achieve them is, never give up! Galileo Galilei has taught me that. I have made lots of good friends here, and I might not see some of them again in a long time, but being part of this high school has created a bond among us. I won´t forget my teachers either, the

Page 8: FAREWELL LETTERS

good ones, and the bad ones. So for all those great memories I want to thank you all, and make sure that you know I love you, and I won´t forget you.

In twenty years from now, I will be looking back at my past and I will see good and bad things. Things I would have preferred I didn't do, and the other things I thank God I did. Studying in Galileo for 6 years, and being part of such an amazing family, are two of the things I wouldn't change for anything. But, now it is time to leave and let others take part in this amazing family. I know that leaving is not the hard part; the hard part is that I know I will never come back. I will probably not see any of my teachers or classmates again. But, it helps knowing that even though I will never see them again, I can always look inside my heart, and

Page 10: FAREWELL LETTERS

they will be there with me, forever.I remember my first day here, I was scared as hell, but with such a nice and warm teachers I quickly felt like home, and I was right, I was at home, the place where I spent more of my time during the week, the place where my friends cheered me up when I was sad, and the place where teachers taught me how to never give up and follow my dreams until I make them, this school has always been my home, and it always be my homeAnd I hope you understand why it is so difficult to make a goodbye letter when I can’t even find the words to describe how this school is.

Page 11: FAREWELL LETTERS

Well the first thing that I have to say is that I don’t like farewells. For a simple reason I have had too many farewells so far.

I like Galileo Galilei high school and I don’t regret at all changing to this high school at all. I’ve only been here for 2 years but I made some really good friends. This is another stage that we all have to face; now some of us are going to university and I think it will be another good experienceI don’t know if I will be able to see some of my friends in the future so you can imagine this isn’t a really happy time for me.

I’ll miss you all.

This was my first year in this school, in the Galileo Galileo, but I have been very well received by my partners.I have been all my life in Prado de Santo Domingo high school, with my older partners, but as I didn’t want to take chemistry I moved to the Galileo Galilei even knowing what that meant. When I arrived I only knew one person from the other class, but from the first day I started to meet my new partners, and here I am, now I know people from both classes very well I have much to thank the teachers (not all for being different, closer than my older teachers were at my other school. If I had known, I would have

Page 14: FAREWELL LETTERS

changed before. I would have known this school before and I would have been able to enjoy it longer, not for just one year!

Page 15: FAREWELL LETTERS

Well, I’ve been thinking about it for a long time and I don’t believe it. It seems to be yesterday when I first got to high school, and I only was an eleven year old boy and I was very nervous about my first class, I’ll never forget it. And now I am going to finish, six years later, it’s incredible. On the one hand I want to finish the course, leave, and change, but I know perfectly well that I’ll miss being in high school, in the same place where I’ve been studying for six years and where I’ve met a lot of great people, where I’ve grown. But now I’ve got to think about finishing my exams, and then I’ll have time to think about sad things, and it’s not bad at all, I

Page 16: FAREWELL LETTERS

can return to visit the high school and see the teachers again so don’t worry about that because everything is going to be all right!

This has been my last year here and the most difficult. During all this time I have changed a lot being very young at the beginning and I have learned a lot of things, some of which I don't know if they are important. When I began I thought that six years were a lot but in the end it has been seven but I have had very funny times with my friends from school and my new friends but there have been bad moments too and I hope I won’t see you, teachers, more every day because that would mean that I will be at university studying what I want. Thanks Galileo!

Hi, I'm Jaime Aguado and it's been a long time since I began studying here, six years ago, I started here being a kid excited about going to a high school and now I'm almost an adult longing to get out of here as soon as possible with my certificate and finish with the exams.

I hope to finish this year but my time here was great and I know I'll miss this time and these people despite all the boring classes and all the work. I advise you not to attach too much importance to the study and don't stress out about exams and have fun, but don't give up or leave it because the student life is one of the best lives.

When the time comes and you have to leave, you can find lot of feelings inside you. On the one hand, you know that’s the beginning of a new era in your life and you feel good about it; but on the other hand, you feel you’re missing something, something that has been with you for a long time, but don’t look back, you have to continue and chase your dreams. I know all these years have been just the foundations of my future. Lots of experiences and lots of good friends that will never be forgotten, because Galileo Galilei is not just a high school for us, it is something that will join us forever. I can’t imagine myself if I had studied in another high school, because

Page 22: FAREWELL LETTERS

here is where I have become an adult and well, in part I am what I am thanks to all my friends and all the teachers I have met here. It seems yesterday the first time we arrived here, and now we are leaving. I hope all my friends and teachers will miss me as much as I will.

Well, here I am, finishing my last course in Galileo Galilei, I still don’t believe it. Before Galileo, I was a child, my life as an “adult” has begun here, and all I am has been born in this high school.I’m pretty sure that Galileo Galilei is part of me, or hardly everything about me. Here, I have met some of my best friends. There are bad guys too, but not as many as good ones. It has been my second home for 6 years, the third part of my life.

Anyway, I will always remember Galileo’s friends and teachers with a smile on my face, because I’m proud of being a Galileo student!

My last two years in our high school were so special for me and for all the students on it. I have been studying here since 2005, in 1º ESO. I was such a small kid compared to now, and I remember being so scared and afraid the first day. But as the years go faster and faster, you realize that you are leaving school. Well, my two last years in Galileo Galilei High School (Bachillerato degree) have been special because I had a class that was funny, and relaxing. That was APLE. At first, I didn’t like it very much (the first year), but the second year was great! We made a lot of funny presentations and projects, and we could improve our language skills, and all of this thanks to

It's been 6 years since I started school. The truth is that, at first, I thought that the difficulty of the classes was going to overcome me and I would be struggling to pass.Over the years I've realized that I have passed all my subjects without problems, except for some subjects like English. After this period, which I think is the best in life, I have made very good friends, I get good impressions and I think I've matured enough to fend for myself.Without doubt, the high school is the best time, especially when you finish it.

I was twelve years old when I first went to Galileo Galilei High School, and now I’m eighteen and I’m going to live. In these six years I have lived the best and the worst moments in my life. The first years were relaxed and fun, but the past two years have been horrible, especially this one in which I’ve been studying all the year. But in this high school I’ve made a lot of friends and I’ve met a lot of teachers, some of them good and others not so good. I can’t believe it but I’m going to leave the high school six years later. I have had a very good time here, and in the end

Page 30: FAREWELL LETTERS

you only remember the good things.

Hello teachers! I’m Sebas and it may not make sense to write a farewell letter but I am going to in any case. These years in the high school have been marvellous but this last year has been more interesting than the others, fun but stressful.First of all I want to recommend all the students for future years to take these lessons because they are interesting for a change. In this year I’ve learned a lot and the things that I have enjoyed There are a lot of examples I could mention: the games with Tereza, the Voicethreads, the assignments and How I Met Your Mother and some free time in some classes. But these things were only in APLE 2 in

Page 32: FAREWELL LETTERS

chemistry, biology, maths, language, history, philosophy… things were so difficult and stressful.I don’t think we should have a bad memory of this year because a lot of classes were fun and extraordinary. One of my favorite moments this year was in APLE 2 with Tereza when we were talking about the superstitions and she talked to us about some Czech and German superstition when they toast. In summary I think although this year has been hard and stressful it has also been the funniest year I’ve ever had and I’m sure that I will miss my partners and teachers.

It's been six years in this high school and there have been a lot of experiences and things to tell.

I remember my first year: I was very excited because it was a new stage in my life. The first grades were easy, I got good marks and I didn't need to study much. But in 4th E.S.O. it turned into something difficult and I had to study much more.

Soon, if I am lucky, I'll pass 2nd Bachillerato and I will finish high school. I hope I'll go to university and study a degree, but, who knows what will happen tomorrow!

My warning to all those kids who are going to start secondary this year, after summer, is to study and work

Page 34: FAREWELL LETTERS

hard if they do not want to have problems in upper grades, especially that, to work every day, If they do that they will finish secondary without many problems.

P.S: Oh, and remember to keep calm when doing an exam or when you have a lot of them, that will help you a lot!

“It's time to say good-bye,

Our year has come to an end.I've made more cherished

memoriesWhich make me feel content.

I've watched you learn and growAnd change from day to day.

I hope that all the things we've done

Have helped in some small way.So it's with happy memories

I send you out the door.”
