The Athletic Therapy program (BKin) is a jointoffering with Mount Royal College, whichprovides professional training in AthleticTherapy, including a high-quality experientialcomponent during a full year on the MountRoyal College campus. Ten students per yearwill be admitted to the major after two years ofpreparatory course work that includesspecified course requirements.

Biomechanics (BKin or BSc) focuses on themechanics of human movement with anemphasis on biomedical and sports applica-tions, through course work in Kinesiology,Mathematics, and Engineering.

Exercise and Health Physiology (BKin orBSc) builds upon fundamental knowledge inhuman movement and functioning, focusingon the effects of lifestyle, exercise, and dieton the human body.

Mind Sciences in Kinesiology (BKin or BSc)provides a comprehensive education in theareas of behavioural neurosciences, cognition and neuro-motor control, andpersonality and social psychology.

Pedagogy (BKin) combines the study ofElementary and Secondary School PhysicalEducation. Teaching certification must beobtained from the Faculty of Education eitherafter completion of the BKin (Pedagogy)degree, or through the combined degree withPedagogy and Education.

The BA Dance degree is offered as a four-year collaborative program with the Facultyof Fine Arts.

ObjectivesThe curriculum in the Faculty of Kinesiologyintroduces students to new and demandingthought processes and learning experiencesthat promote a lifelong desire for learningand a healthy lifestyle. It provides anopportunity for students to acquire advancedlevels of knowledge in specific aspectsrelated to health, movement, exercise, andsport. Laboratory, professional, and experi-ential courses are designed to facilitate thetransition to workplace and/or graduateeducation and to assimilate knowledgeoutside of the field of Kinesiology.
