White Paper

During the JWEF, youths from all background will meet entrepreneurs,

experts and politicians and identify best practices and

recommendations to be presented at the World Entrepreneurship

Forum.

These recommendations will then be collated into a White Paper,

which will be available publicly.

Page 9: Facilitator Training for JWEF 2013

White Paper

The White Paper is a document that explains the results,

conclusions or construction resulting from an organized

committee or a research collaboration.

In our case, it will collate the innovative ideas and suggestions

that are gathered during the discussion period at the Forum.

This White Paper will be presented at the World Entrepreneurship Forum

Page 10: Facilitator Training for JWEF 2013

White Paper & You

For the White Paper to be effective and insightful, the

discussions during JWEF needs to be deep and meaningful

It will be your job as a Facilitator to ensure this.

During JWEF, after each speaker has spoken, we will discuss

the issues covered by the speakers among the Participants.

As Facilitators, your role will be to actively lead this group

discussion and create content for the White Paper.

Page 11: Facilitator Training for JWEF 2013

Your Role

Each of you will have a team of 15 Participants.

Later on, you will get the opportunity to learn the skills you will

require to become an effective Facilitator from Larry.

What does it mean ?

All Entrepreneurs have the objective of sustainable growth. Startup stage, scale up stage, maturity and possible decline...The objective remains : sustainable growth.

Sustainability means

1. wealth / financial sustainability (profit, market share, financial security)

2. social justice / social sustainability (create jobs, social justice, societal impact, environmental impact)

The only constant is change. Business environment is changing continuously.

New macroeconomic and microeconomic trends are emerging all the time (population growth,

ageing, global warming, emergence of a middle class, financial crash, regulatory change - PESTEL

framework).

Changes are not positive or negative per se, but they force us to adapt, to "navigate change”.

Change can be perceived as a threat or as an opportunity.

The entrepreneur is and must be a navigator. The entrepreneur can be compared to anavigator that directs, pilots in a strategic way his/her venture.

The navigator has a goal, a direction to follow, needs to react to change quickly and effectively to

keep the boat afloat

Being a better navigator means having more experience, knowledge, skills, social capital etc.

Page 16: Facilitator Training for JWEF 2013

What kind of talks can you hold ?

1. STORIES OF CHANGE. 1. What are the biggest changes in your country and environment

entrepreneurs are faced with ?

2. What new needs will have to be adressed ?

3. What new circumstances pose a threat or an opportunity ?

4. How can the entrepreneur be/create the change ?

2. STORIES OF NAVIGATION.1. How to better manage your venture against emerging challenges ?

2. How to make the most of new opportunities, turning change into

chance ? Stories of innovating entrepreneurs who use trends to

3. How to grow from one stage to another (startup, scale up, maturity)

?

Page 17: Facilitator Training for JWEF 2013

Discussion Points

How to adapt to (bad) change ?

How to seize (good) change ?

How to create change ?

Different kinds of workshops

Workshops with entrepreneurs

Venture case : what changes are coming, what can they do ?

Venture case : change came, how did they react ?

Venture case : how did they create change ?

Workshops with simulations

You are the CEO, [change] happens, how would you react ?

Workshops to discuss on morning talks
