FACEBOOK SPYING ON US

Facebook has officially announced that it would be going to track your online as well as offline behavior on & off Facebook. Similar to Google, Facebook now wants to increase & multiply its understanding of the behavior of all users. It would do this to serve everyone more specifically targeted ads.

Facebook has long been using the likes and status post to target specific ads. Although now, it has declared that it will track its users across any website they visit (The website should have a ‘Like’ button, a way to login through Facebook or even any Facebook Code). Facebook declared that a user needs not to be logged on to facebook or click any facebook related things for it to track their habits.

No one is yet aware, but Facebook has done this through an automatic-opt-in feature — though it has made an opt-out-option available as well. However, Privacy activists and security analysts have noted that companies like Facebook & Google should only allow its users data to be used by getting their explicit permission (manual & user initiated opt-in instead of automatic company generated opt-in) — and not by having to manually turn this feature off through a self- initiated opt-out.

All over the world, argument in favor of privacy has increased and strengthened since it was revealed that intelligence and national security agencies have had access to electronic communications and data stored by almost all internet majors. The growth of anonymous internet startups, such as Snapchat, Whisper etc brings out the desire for privacy. It would be prudent that Facebook has offered a way for users to opt-out, similar to Google's ‘Right to be forgotten’ although very few users actually know about it and fewer actually use it.
