Unit Title: Storybird for Teachers
Audience: 5th Grade teachers at Bluffton ElementaryDuration: 45 minutes
STAGE 1 DESIRED RESULTS
ISTE Standards:
Standard 2. Design and develop digital age learning experiences and assessments
Teachers design, develop and evaluate authentic learning experiences and assessments incorporating contemporary tools and resources to maximize content learning in context and to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes identified in the standards.Standard 5. Engage in professional growth and leadership
Teachers continuously improve their professional practice, model lifelong learning, and exhibit leadership in their school and professional community by promoting and demonstrating the effective use of digital tools and resources.
Instructional Goal:
In order to infuse digital storytelling into the core curriculum, participants will demonstrate the ability to use the web 2.0 tool, Storybird, by creating a book and developing ideas for instructional units that incorporate the use of Storybird.
Essential Question:How can I use storybird to develop student literacy skills in accordance with my schools writing initiative?
Objectives:
1. Identify how Storybird is used for digital storytelling.2. Create Digital Stories with Storybird.
3. Develop lesson plan ideas for a current or future lesson utilizing Storybird.
STAGE 2 ASSESSMENT EVIDENCE
Performance Task(s):
- Create a book using Storybird- Collaborate with colleagues to develop lesson using StorybirdOther Evidence:- At the end of the workshop, participants will be asked to complete an evaluation of the session. A survey will be provided via Google Forms and consist of both multiple-choice and short answer questions. These evaluations will be used to determine the success of the staff development session and to assess the need for follow-up training in that particular area or in related areas.
