Fable Lesson 19 Slide 2 The main idea in a fable is its moral, or lesson. In a fable, animal characters face a problem or conflict. When the conflict is resolved, one of the characters learns a lesson, such as You cant please everyone. Slide 3 Read the passage. Discuss the graphic organizer. Every event in the fable is focused on resolving the conflict. Slide 4 Read the passage. The conflict between the characters involves conflicting desires; one character wants one thing to happen, and another character wants the opposite to happen. All the events in the fable are focused on reaching the resolution. Complete the graphic organizer. Slide 5 Read the passage. a cat and a sparrowa field The cat wants to eat the sparrow. The sparrow wants to get away. The sparrow says Im too small for a meal. The sparrow tells the cat to eat a cardinal instead. The cat turns to look at the cardinal. The sparrow gets away.
