Dear Parents!

I am amazed at how much learning is taking place at FM Day! Our students and staff are really focused and they are

putting on their critical thinking hats. We are very proud of our students who are working hard daily and coming to

school on time. Please encourage your child to highlight and share with you what they are learning about in school.

One thing that I have been doing at home as a dad is asking my sons to share two good things that happened at school

today. It is amazing the things I hear when I ask them to share positive memories. In a world that sometimes can seem

full of negativity, it is nice to hear what is good too! I encourage you to ask them to share just one or two good things

about their day and see what you hear. Surely if your kids are like mine, you definitely already hear the things they

don’t like about their day ha ha!

Parents we also need your help with something very important. We have been reinforcing with students that cell phones

should not be used during the school day and our students are doing quite well with this. Cell phones are put away in

back packs when the day starts and should not be taken out until after dismissal. Please go over cell phone safety rules

with your child at home. Keep in mind that social media disputes that occur off campus can still bring issues to school

which negatively impact learning for all. Our parents have been asking for help with learning more about social media

dangers and ways to support. Please feel free to join us at the next coffee with the principal which will occur on Friday

3/18/16 at 8:30 a.m. Our local police team has offered to help us teach more about social media dangers, cyber bully-

ing, and to provide tips that parents can use to help keep our kids focused on safety. They are hoping to send sergeant

Miller who is very friendly and really loves the students. Our awesome SRO Officer Duran is also working to get us

more information and plans to give our teachers some other learning opportunities on the same topics. We plan to use

these materials with the older students at FM Day during the school day.

Thanks again for doing your part as parents in helping kids to stay focused on education and safety. It will certainly

take us all to educate our youth and support them to accomplish great things.

Apreciados padres,

¡Estoy sorprendido de todo el aprendizaje que se lleva a cabo en FM Day! Nuestros estudiantes y personal están

realmente enfocados y están poniéndose sus “sombreros de pensamiento crítico”. Estamos muy orgullosos de nuestros

estudiantes quienes están trabajando fuerte todos los días y llegando a la escuela a tiempo. Por favor, estimule a su hijo/

a contarle y compartir lo que está aprendiendo en la escuela. Una cosa que he hecho en mi casa como padre es pedir

a mis hijos que me digan una o dos cosas buenas que pasaron en su escuela ese día. Es maravilloso escuchar lo que

tienen que decir cuando yo le pido que compartan recuerdos positivos. En un mundo que a veces parece estar lleno de

cosas negativas, ¡es agradable oír lo bueno también! Les recomiendo que pidan a sus hijos que compartan una o dos

cosas buenas de su día y veamos que le dicen. ¡Seguro que si sus hijos son como los míos, definitivamente usted ya ha

oído cosas que no le gustaron durante el día, ja, ja!

Padres, necesitamos su ayuda con algo muy importante. Hemos estado reforzando a los estudiantes que los teléfonos

móviles no se deben usar durante el día escolar y nuestros estudiantes está haciendo bastante bien. Los teléfonos

móviles se guardan en la mochila al principio del día y no se deben sacar hasta después de la salida. Por favor, en casa,

discuta con su hijo, las normas de seguridad de los teléfonos móviles. Recuerde que problemas que ocurren en las redes

sociales fuera de la escuela pueden traer problemas a la escuela lo que crea un impacto negativo para todos. Nuestros

padres han estado pidiéndonos ayuda para aprender más sobre los peligros en los medios sociales y maneras cómo apo-

yarlos. Por favor, acompáñenos en nuestro próximo Café con el Director que se llevará a cabo el viernes, 19 de marzo

de 2016 a las 8:30am. El equipo de la policía local se ha ofrecido a enseñarnos más sobre los peligros de las redes so-

ciales, acoso cibernético, y para proveer algunas sugerencias que los padres pueden usar para mantener a nuestros niños

concentrados en la seguridad. Esperan poder enviar al sargento Miller quien es muy amigable y quiere mucho a los ni-

ños. Nuestro estupendo oficial Duran también está trabajando para traernos más información y planes para ofrecerles a

nuestros maestros otras oportunidades de aprendizaje sobre el tema. Planificamos usar el material, durante el día esco-

lar, con los estudiantes mayores de FM Day.

Gracias otra vez por ayudar a sus hijos, como padres, a que se mantengan concentrados en la educación y la seguridad.

Seguramente tendremos que colaborar todos para educar a nuestros jóvenes para que se mantengan enfocados en la edu-

cación y la seguridad y apoyarlos para que alcancen grandes logros.
