EXPERIENTIAL OPTIONS The Party 3 WEEKS GAME IDEAS Texting Competition (Play week 1 to set up the series.) Show different words or phrases on screen, and have students text in that word or phrase to a cell phone. Whichever text comes in first wins. The texts should be judged on quickness and accuracy. Award each winner a prize. The Point: Each week in the video, there’s a text message that goes out to everyone at the party. This simply helps bring what’s on screen into the room. Some phrase ideas: Do you smell that? It smells like cheese, This party is awesome, I love my mommy, Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, etc. (These are just to get you thinking.) Who Do You Think You Are?! (Ties into week 2) Have a few students come up front. Give each one a card with a character/person on it. Then, have them act out the character without using words. They may use sounds though. Have the audience try to guess who the student is acting like. The Point: The main character this week realizes he’s been acting as someone he’s really not—who other people have wanted him to be. This game illustrates acting like someone we’re really not. Ideas for characters: Donald Trump, You (the youth pastor), Harry Potter, Spiderman, Kylie Jenner, Ellen DeGeneres, Cameron Dallas, Barney the Dinosaur, etc. (These are just to get you thinking.) Jerk or Gentleman (Ties into week 3) Set up a dating show where there are two guy contestants vying to take a girl on a date. She cannot see the guys but will have to pick the date based on their answers to questions she asks. Here’s the catch: one of the guys must respond like a selfish jerk and the other guy like a selfless gentleman, so set that up with the guys ahead of time. Once the questions are all done, ask her which one she would pick. Have the audience yell and shout out who they think she should pick, too. You can have someone dressed as a crazy game show host to facilitate the game. The Point: In this week’s episode, the character realizes he doesn’t have any real friends because he’s a jerk. The game helps illustrate why people don’t like jerks. AESTHETICS/PRE-EXPERIENCE/SOCIAL MEDIA ACTIVITY Kick off this series with a party! Let’s avoid kegs and Solo cups, but something around the idea of a big party. Maybe a DJ, lights and dancing in the lobby, or simply free food and fun drinks like root beer floats.

She cannot see the guys but will have to pick the date based on their answers to questions she asks. Here’s the catch: one of the guys must respond like a selfish jerk and the other guy like a selfless gentleman, so set that up with the guys ahead of time. You can have someone dressed as a crazy game show host to facilitate the game. The Point: In this week’s episode, the character realizes he doesn’t have any real friends because he’s a jerk. The game helps illustrate why people don’t like jerks.
