experience planning
DESCRIPTION
Learn how to design an experience by first focusing on what the solution should enable. In other words, spend time thinking about what your final design should DO before you start thinking about how a design will work, or look. This presentation is for designers, project managers, and developers.I am a ux designer. I use this methodology on every project big or small. This method even works in the most dysfunctional environments. This method will help you with or without user centered research.I truly hope this helps you on your next project. Let me know if you have questions or concerns.TRANSCRIPT

what is experience planning?
![Page 4: Experience Planning](https://reader033.vdocuments.mx/reader033/viewer/2022050720/548035d0b37959582b8b5ad4/html5/thumbnails/4.jpg)
experience planning is a method used toscope a product or service.
![Page 5: Experience Planning](https://reader033.vdocuments.mx/reader033/viewer/2022050720/548035d0b37959582b8b5ad4/html5/thumbnails/5.jpg)
in an ideal world this approach is informed bya deep understanding of our customers.
![Page 6: Experience Planning](https://reader033.vdocuments.mx/reader033/viewer/2022050720/548035d0b37959582b8b5ad4/html5/thumbnails/6.jpg)
experience planning emphasizes what aproduct or service will do rather than how it will
work, or what it will look like.
![Page 7: Experience Planning](https://reader033.vdocuments.mx/reader033/viewer/2022050720/548035d0b37959582b8b5ad4/html5/thumbnails/7.jpg)
experience planning is a collaborative, living process, that evolves over
a period of time.
![Page 8: Experience Planning](https://reader033.vdocuments.mx/reader033/viewer/2022050720/548035d0b37959582b8b5ad4/html5/thumbnails/8.jpg)
the primary building block of experienceplanning is an experience goal.
![Page 9: Experience Planning](https://reader033.vdocuments.mx/reader033/viewer/2022050720/548035d0b37959582b8b5ad4/html5/thumbnails/9.jpg)
what is an experience goal?
![Page 10: Experience Planning](https://reader033.vdocuments.mx/reader033/viewer/2022050720/548035d0b37959582b8b5ad4/html5/thumbnails/10.jpg)
an experience goal represents yourcustomers ambition, aim, or desired result.
![Page 11: Experience Planning](https://reader033.vdocuments.mx/reader033/viewer/2022050720/548035d0b37959582b8b5ad4/html5/thumbnails/11.jpg)
it’s easiest to think of these goals in simplesentences. for example,“I want to be healthy.”
![Page 12: Experience Planning](https://reader033.vdocuments.mx/reader033/viewer/2022050720/548035d0b37959582b8b5ad4/html5/thumbnails/12.jpg)
why are experience goals important?
![Page 13: Experience Planning](https://reader033.vdocuments.mx/reader033/viewer/2022050720/548035d0b37959582b8b5ad4/html5/thumbnails/13.jpg)
they can help provide a broad view ofyour product or service...
![Page 14: Experience Planning](https://reader033.vdocuments.mx/reader033/viewer/2022050720/548035d0b37959582b8b5ad4/html5/thumbnails/14.jpg)
enable team members to collaborate andbuild consensus on a project vision...
![Page 15: Experience Planning](https://reader033.vdocuments.mx/reader033/viewer/2022050720/548035d0b37959582b8b5ad4/html5/thumbnails/15.jpg)
reduce, and even eliminate feature creep...
![Page 16: Experience Planning](https://reader033.vdocuments.mx/reader033/viewer/2022050720/548035d0b37959582b8b5ad4/html5/thumbnails/16.jpg)
surface risks and dependencies at anearly stage...
![Page 17: Experience Planning](https://reader033.vdocuments.mx/reader033/viewer/2022050720/548035d0b37959582b8b5ad4/html5/thumbnails/17.jpg)
provide a tool for future decision making, and concept evaluation...
![Page 18: Experience Planning](https://reader033.vdocuments.mx/reader033/viewer/2022050720/548035d0b37959582b8b5ad4/html5/thumbnails/18.jpg)
and finally it transitions smoothly into theagile scrum process.
![Page 19: Experience Planning](https://reader033.vdocuments.mx/reader033/viewer/2022050720/548035d0b37959582b8b5ad4/html5/thumbnails/19.jpg)
three categories of experience goals
![Page 20: Experience Planning](https://reader033.vdocuments.mx/reader033/viewer/2022050720/548035d0b37959582b8b5ad4/html5/thumbnails/20.jpg)
goals that change slowly if at all over timelike our earlier example “I want to be healthy.”

specific goals that relate to the larger goal.for example,“I want my LDL–Cholesterol
level to be below 100.”

I have been telling everyone about our design process and how amazing it was! That experience was the highlight of my internship. It was fascinating to learn a whole new way of thinking. My prior conceptions (and I think a lot of
people's) about design and development were completely topsy-turvy of what we did. This method is much more effective! I think we designed a better product than we would have otherwise. I know the process took
longer than what some people wanted, but I think it saved time in the end. By thinking through every possible angle of this app in the beginning, we had
less rework and blind spots later. I can't imagine designing anything in the future without using this process.
