EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 30Series of 2011

*AN ORDER CREATING THE STEERING COMMITTEE OF THE2011 KADAYAWAN SA DABAW FESTIVAL

AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES"

WHEREAS, Davao City prides itself as a multi-cultural community and a meltingpot of different ethnic backgrounds;

WHEREAS, in recognition to the city's indigenous people, diverse cultures andits unique arts and crafts, the City Government of Davao celebrates the KadayawanFestival which values the contribution of the indigenous people in the preservation ofthe city's cultural heritage and synergizing the indigenous traditions with the modern

society;

WHEREAS, the Kadayawan Festival has become a major tourist attraction andhas drawn local and foreign tourists to come and experience the cultural variety of

Davao;

WHEREAS, Davao City envisions to be the premier tourism destination in thecountry highlighting the city's multi-culturism making it ideal for cultural variety andeco-tourism. Strategies, such as the holding of the Kadayawan Festival, are initiated bythe City Government to achieve this goal;

WHEREAS, there is a need to encourage the participation of the private sectorin the promotion of tourism and preservation of heritage of the city;

WHEREAS, in order to enable the City Government of Davao to effectivelybalance the promotion of the tourism industry and the recognition of the role of thecity's indigenous people in the celebration of the 2011 Kadayawan sa Dabaw Festival,there is a need to constitute, organize, and create a joint government and privatesector Steering/ Executive Committee that will plan, organize, manage, and implementthe activities of the said festival.

NOW THEREFORE, I, SARA Z. DUTERTE, Mayor of the City of Davao, byvirtue of the oowers vested in me by law, do hereby order the following:

SECTION 1. Creation, constitution and composition. Hereby created is the zuiiKadayawan sa Dabaw Festival Steering Committee to be composed of the following

SECTION 2. Functions. The Committee shall perform the following functions:

1.Plan and ensure the smooth coordination of programs, events, and activitiesin connection with the celebration of the 2011 Kadayawan sa DabawFestival;

2.encourage participation, especially from the private sector, and organizesub-committees that will help in the implementation of the programs andactivities for this festival;

3.find ways and means, including but not limited to getting solicitations fromprivate institutions and persons, to support the effective implementation ofprograms, events, and activities during the festival; and,

4.perform such other acts which are necessary to effectively and meaningfullycarry out their mandated functions.

SECTION 3. Technical and Administrative Support. All divisions and departmentsof the Local Government of Davao are enjoined to provide necessary technicaland administrative support to the Steering/ Executive Committee andcoordinate the efficient implementation of all its policies and directives.

SECTION 4. Festival Dates. The 2011 Kadayawan sa Dabaw Festival'shall commenceon August 1, 2011 and culminate on August 31, 2011. To also coincide with theIndigenous People's Day.

SECTION 5. Funding. Funding for the celebration, opening requirements, and suchother expenses to be incurred in connection with the celebration of the 2011Kadayawan sa Dabaw Festival shall be sourced exclusively from privatesponsorships and should be coursed through the Du-aw Davao FestivalFoundation.

SECTION 6. Effectivity. This Order shall take effect immediately.
