progressFar more ex-Symonds students leave university with first or upper second class degrees than is typical for students from either the state or independent sectors. This is a remarkable achievement and bears testament to the thorough grounding students receive with us. The College remains a perfect place for ambition.

Government performance tables show that students at Peter Symonds make more progress from their starting points than would be expected. Our students have attained a statistically significant positive score every year since the government first published value added data.

Our students also have a highly impressive record of securing places to study medicine, veterinary science and dentistry. In 2020, 62 students were offered places to study medicine, dentistry or veterinary science. Symonds remains the top college for students aspiring to careers in science and medicine.

Research by the Sutton Trust shows that Peter Symonds is one of the five main contributors of students to Oxford and Cambridge universities nationally. Others in the top five include Eton, St Paul’s and Westminster independent schools.Government statistics

show that more Symonds students go to Russell Group universities than from any other institution in the country. In 2020, 674 students took up places at these top universities.

We are extremely proud of all of our students, the progress that they make when they are with us, and the things they go on to do when they leave.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed the teaching and structure of Peter Symonds. The additional support for medicine at lunchtime made me feel well-prepared and confident. I found PSC to be a supportive and welcoming environment that has developed my independent study mindset.”
