  • Greetings to all! The first month of RI year 2014-15 has passed by quickly, ending with a remarkable Installation. As we step into the 2 nd month, we aim to complete more of club service and professional development activities. We have successfully completed Club Assembly on the 10 th of August and hosted Rotaract Club of Bombay, 3140 on the 24 th of August. September is round the corner, and we all have pulled up our socks for the biggest fundraiser our Rotaract District has seen. Lets give in our best and prove to be RCPSRians in the true sense. As the theme for this bulletin goes, we can only achieve this through teamwork. An African proverb says, If you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, go together. Lets follow this. Jai RCPSR! Rtr. Girija Kele, President.

  • They say there is no 'I' in teamwork. True. But, if it wasn't for that 'I' exceeding in his/her duties and also helping his team members excel in theirs', the team would not be functional. The team requires 'I', that I is you. Rtr. Tamanna Ainarkar Rtr. Palavi Kele

  • What is team work? Does it mean just a bunch of people coming together for a project or a task? Or does it mean a way of building strong leadership powers and understanding how to handle people? Well, for me teamwork is a way of life. At every point, be it kids, teens, young adults or adults, we as humans, face the same. What has it taught me? One thing for sure, teamwork or any group activity has increased my patience level. In many such situations especially if you are the one leading your team.we lose it!! And by this I mean, get super pissed off on team members or anyone in that case. It also gives one a sense of courage and importance. I have had experiences wherein people fight over small issues as to who received more attention and stuff or how some of them were not given a chance to have their say. These are all the important pointers the head of the team or the leader should take into account and remember to be equal and fair with all members of the team. Let me give you an example to explain the same. I must have been in the eight standard when my batch was given a project to make a replica of how and from where the entire river Nile flows through. i vaguely remember that because of one person who always went against what the group decided we had to rebuild the project not just once or twice, but EIGHT TIMES !! (Believe me when I am saying this it was a two by four meter project). So yes, not only does the project matter but the people too. I am a new member/prospective of this Rotaract Club, and as far as I have come to know about it, teamwork, unity and understanding is what makes this club strong. I am glad to have finally joined this club and hope it makes me a better person in all aspects. - Rtr. Madhyami Deshmukh

  • We live in a digital age, where technology is constantly driving innovation, enabling businesses and causing a positive disruption. Through technology, the level of playing field has been flattened. It has become easier for new players to enter in this dynamic environment. This has led to increase in competition across different industries across the globe. However, the IT industry had been unable to counter these positive disruptions, due to the traditional heavy- weight methodology adopted by most IT companies. Due to this methodology, there have been many failed and challenged projects, high costs, delays in project completion and too many defects. To counter these challenges, an approach was implemented by IT companies in late 1990s to overcome unpredictability and delays in the execution of their projects -Agile Methodology (AM) came into being in February 2001. On 17 th August, Rotractors were introduced to the process and benefits of Agile Methodology. The session was conducted by Mr. Sunil Mundhra, an Agile evangelist and Principal Consultant with Thoughtworks Pune. Since the past decade, a majority of IT companies (following AM) have reaped the benefits from this method of working. Through constant customer collaboration and adapting to changes in a dynamic market, these companies have been able to reduce the no. of failed and challenged projects. AM is a way of looking at how things influence each other as a whole and not as individual parts. The focus is always on adding value to the product/service. This is done by minimizing inventory, eliminating waste and work as per customers requirement.

  • Mr Mundhra emphasized the following key principles of AM: Failing early is good. Team is the most powerful in the organization Get early feedback Constant focus on continuous improvement Avoid big bang approach Constant visibility and transparency Focus on defect prevention Focus on Value, not tasks Constant collaboration with customer Treat employees as people, not as resource Rtr.
