I am in the process of reading a very good book entitled Paul: A Man of Grace and Grit by Chuck Swindoll. On page 117 of this book, the Swindoll writes: “God’s work has nothing to do with your pastor’s personal agenda. It is not about a church board’s five-step plan to reach the community or the personal preferences of one outspoken deacon. It’s about what God wants to accomplish through each of us working together. The secret is in that last word— together. There’s nothing wrong with having a clearly defined mission statement that gives direction and purpose to the vision of a ministry. In fact, there’s everything right about it as long as it is the Lord who provides the direction. God’s plan unfolds in ways that confounds human wisdom and sometimes defies common sense. But it is His plan. Objectives are essential when they are His objectives, not ours.” Swindoll hit the nail on the head. Two things are necessary—God’s plan and togetherness. That’s a winning combination every time! Let’s remember that as we strive to know Christ and to make Him known. The best days for our beloved church family are ahead of us as we work together and fulfill God's plan. God bless you. NEW SPRING SERMON SERIES

Join Dr. Yount and the Woodlawn

family as we begin three new

teaching series this spring.

Last Words Imagine the physical and mental

agony Jesus experienced hanging

on the cross. There He was,

suspended between heaven and

earth, giving His life to pay our sin

debt. Even in the last moments of

His earthly life, Jesus had us on His

mind and in His heart. In this series

Dr. Yount will carefully examine

those tender last words uttered by

our Savior in his final minutes of life.

You will be captivated and inspired

by the compelling love of Jesus

Christ through this study in God’s

word. This five-week series begins

Sunday morning, March 9, 2014 in

the Worship Center and the

Christian Life Center.

Walking Worthy The book of 1st Thessalonians was

written between 52-54 A.D. making

it one of the earliest written letters in

the New Testament. The Apostle

Paul wrote this letter to strengthen

the saints in Thessalonica who were

facing great opposition and being

persecuted for their faith. Paul

encouraged them to walk worthy

of their calling in Christ and not lose

hope. He specifically addressed

what happens to the believer after

death and shares with us some

fascinating facts about the

resurrection. This sixteen-week series

begins Sunday evening, March 9,

2014 in the Worship Center.

In The Beginning The book of Genesis is known as the

book of beginnings. Written by

Moses about 1450-1410 B.C. it is a

book of history, introducing us to

the remainder of the Bible. In this

study Dr. Yount will turn back the

pages of time and acquaint us with

many of the key personalities of our

faith, including Adam and Eve,

Noah, Abraham, Jacob, Joseph,

and many more. Genesis was

written to record God’s creation of

the world and to demonstrate His

love for all that He created. This

thirty-four week study begins
