My research and planning skills have increased significantly. This has changed because in my preliminary
task, I only researched one specific professional magazine. However, for my final product I researched many
different distributors and professional magazines. The change in steps I made for my prelim and final product
have also changed. For my prelim I went through threes stages which included research of one magazine,
drawing out flat plans and then making my product. However, for my final product I went through numerous
stages which include researching more then one professional magazine, drawing out numerous amounts of
flat plans and taking test shots. This helped make my magazine look more professional and more organised
then my prelim.
Comparing these two flat
plans, the one on the right
is my prelim and the one
on the left is my final flat
plan for my product. We
can see that more is in
involved and organised
on my final flat plan then
my prelim. This shows that
more research has been
done on my final then my
prelim

For my prelim I didn’t research
font styles unlike for my final
product where I used
dafont.com for some font styles.
Whilst researching my fonts I
had to take in many different
factors into consideration like
the target audience which is
‘indie’ and rock’ and I also had
to vary it to suit males and
females. By researching fonts it
helped make my product look
more professional.

Another part of research which I didn’t do in my prelim was a mood board. I used a mood board in my final product research to look at different magazines and clothing to suit my magazine and give me some ideas.

Unlike my prelim, research for my final product included doing call sheets, recce of location and a hazard and risk
assessment. By doing these it helped me become more
organised when doing my research.

As shown, you can clearly see the difference in organisation and
research between my prelim and final product. You can also see
that my final product looks more professional in the way it is set
out what the product includes. The product includes more
pictures, sell, lines, skyline and a title. The development of my skills
are clearly shown in the difference between the two images. By
developing my skills in Photoshop and Indesign I was able to edit
and make my product look more professional.
