LIVING OUR FAITH

Thank you to our Liturgy Committee, who helped with all the planning to be sure Holy Week will go smoothly. Save the Date for VBS and Choir Camp – Choir Camp will be July 9-13 and VBS is July 16-20. Both are Mon-Fri, 7:45am – around 11:30am. Lots more details to come but mark your calendars now. Both weeks will be affordable and incredibly fun. Mass Explanations – Interesting facts about Triduum

The word Triduum comes from Latin and means, essentially, "the three days" (tri- = three, -dies = days).

It's a season of it's own, and refers to the liturgical season that follows Lent and precedes the Easter season.

When does Triduum begin and end? It begins on Thursday with the evening Mass of the Lord's Supper, reaches its high point in the Easter Vigil, and closes with evening prayer on Easter Sunday. It thus includes three full days, though since the season doesn't begin at midnight, these three days are distributed as follows:

The last part of Holy Thursday Good Friday Holy Saturday The first part of Easter Sunday

The Triduum is the culmination of the entire liturgical year, and the solemnity of Easter has the same kind of preemi-nence in the liturgical year that Sunday has in the week.

Triduum includes a day for fasting. We fast on Good Friday particularly because our Divine Spouse has been taken away. This sets the stage for the greatest feast of the year on Easter.

HOLY WEEK SCHEDULE Holy Thursday - 8 am, morning prayer in Church - 7 pm, Holy Thursday Mass - Church will be open until 10 pm if you would like to pray at the Altar of Repose Good Friday - 8 am, Morning Prayer in Church - 2:30 pm, Stations of the Cross in Church - 7 pm, Good Friday service with veneration of the Cross - 9:00 pm, Tenebrea - Church will be open all day if you would like to pray at the Altar of Repose Holy Saturday - 8 am, Morning Prayer in Church - 11 am, Easter Egg Hunt - 8 pm, Easter Vigil Mass Easter Sunday - 8 am, Mass - 10:30 am, Mass Divine Mercy Sunday - regular Mass times, but the 10:30 am Mass on Sunday is 1st Communion so be aware the it may be very crowded. EASTER EGG HUNT Join us at 11:00 am on March 31 to celebrate the impending Easter feast with a giant egg hunt at our soccer field (the gym in case of bad weather). All children from toddler to the 5th grade are welcome to participate. We also have face painters, balloon artists, and the Easter bunny! Please bring your own basket. WHEN: Saturday, Mar 31st @ 11:00 am (don't be late, or you'll miss out on the eggs!) WHERE: Epiphany Msgr. Sullivan Field (or gym for weather) WHAT: Egg hunt, balloon artist, face painting, prizes! WHO: All children who can walk up through 5th grade. No registration necessary. EASTER EGG HUNT DONATIONS NEEDED We are now collecting donations for our Prize table for the Easter Egg Hunt, which is Mar 31st. Small items like toy cars, sidewalk chalk, jump ropes, balls, squishes and slime(!) are very much appreciated. Note: we already have plenty of bubbles. They may be dropped off at the rectory anytime during business hours or left on the blue table in the back of Church.

LIVING OUR FAITH URGENT ACTION NEEDED: Contact your Alderman and ask them to vote NO on the Board Bill 34. This bill establishes an eight foot buffer zone at Planned Parenthood and infringes on our

Right to Free Speech. Call the Board of Alderman at 622-3287 and voice your opposition to this repressive bill. Bill is up for vote on April 16.

2018 DEACON DIAPER DRIVE

"In the Archdiocese of St. Louis, the Permanent Diaco-nate, in conjunction with the Respect Life Apostolate, helps moms and families keep babies high and dry. The Third Annual Deacon Diaper Drive is running at parishes throughout the archdiocese, beginning the week-end of March 17-18 and concluding on Easter Sun-day. Parishioners are asked to donate bags, boxes or cases of diapers at weekend Masses, with 100 percent of the donations staying local. A parish's St. Vincent de Paul society or food pantry, or a nearby women's shelter or crisis nursery, will distribute the diapers. You can leave your diapers at the back of church or in the St Vincent de Paul container by the cry room. In two years for the drive, St. Louis Catholics have donated 310,000 diapers for newborns, infants and tod-dlers. Diapers are needed in all sizes, from newborn to size 6 and pull-ups, to ensure a good range in sizes for moms and families in need. Adult diapers are welcomed as well. Call Marilyn or Gerry Unger at 645-3483 if you have any questions. Thank you for your generosity.

TV MASS FOR THE HOMEBOUND Is someone you love unable to join us at church during this holy time of Lent and Easter? For the faithful at home or in healthcare settings, the Heart of the Nation Sunday TV Mass brings spiritual comfort and the blessings of joy-filled hope in our Risen Savior. Please invite anyone you know who cannot get out to church to tune in Catholic Mass on TV or watch online:

PALM SUNDAY AND EASTER TV MASS KPLR channel 11 (CW) at 6:30 am and KTVI channel 2.2 (antenna TV) at 9:00 am.

ONLINE VIDEO: www.HeartoftheNation.org

For those who can get to church, the TV or online liturgy does not fulfill the Sunday Mass obligation.

“Pilate again said to them, ‘Then what shall I do with the man whom you call the King of the Jews?’ And they cried out again, ‘Crucify him.’” – MARK 15:12-13 Jesus told us “whatever you do for the least of my brothers, you do for me.” Every day we are presented opportunities to help someone. Every day we have the opportunity to see the face of Jesus in others and be the face of Jesus to others. Pray for the strength and courage to stand up for those in need of our help.

Stewardship

Dear Faithful of the Archdiocese of St. Louis, On Good Friday, March 30, 2018, the annual collection for the Holy Land will be taken up in parishes throughout the Archdiocese of St. Louis. The Gospel message of compas-sion confirms the need for the Good Friday collection in support of our brothers and sisters in the Holy Land. WE must recognize how much the generous concern of Catho-lics around the world has already accomplished in this tu-multuous area of the world. Our financial assistance sup-ports the Holy Places, but also social and charitable activi-ties, educational and scientific activities, and pastoral activities. In addition, the collection supports liturgical, ecumenical and communications programs. It is important that we assist in providing the care for the Christians living in the Holy Land. I want to ask you for your generous support of the collec-tion for the Holy Land on Good Friday, March 30. Sincerely yours in Christ,

Most Reverend Robert J. Carlson Archbishop of St. Louis

Stations of the Cross We will recall the events of Christ’s Pas-sion and death by praying the Stations of the Cross on Good Friday, March 30 at 2:30 pm. Everyone is encouraged to at-tend.
