Coursework 1: Project Assignment (group)

1.)  Project: Produce a Business Plan on a new product of an organisation.

2.)  Students will work in teams of 5 persons per group or less under certain situation.

3.)  Each group of student is required to select OR form an organisation which shall be of  

ONE of the following industries:

a.)  Food and beverage

 b.)  Trading or services

c.)  Consumer products

d.)  Education

e.)  Tourism

f.)  Finance

g.)  Computer/IT

h.)  Clothing/Apparel

i.)  Others (subject to approval by tutor concerned)

4.)  Each group of student is required to base on the organisation chosen or formed (as

above) and produce a Business Plan on a NEW product.

a.)  Hence, each group is required to register with their respective tutors for their

selected organisation/industry AND also their new product that they are going

to produce the Business Plan. The approval from the tutor concerned is based on

first come first approve basis. This is to avoid of same organisation or same

 product been prepared. Therefore, the group failing to do so will be subjected to

 be rejected or mark deduction.

 b.)  With that, students are advised to produce their Business Plan proposal to theirtutor and to have a proper registered (approved) organisation, as soon as

 possible.

5.)  The format of the written assignment should be of the following:

a.)  In Times New Roman font and of size 12, line spacing of 1.5 with the normal

 page margin on A4 paper.

 b.)  Page numbering shall be placed at center bottom of page and in sequence

starting from Table of Contents.

c.)  The Plan shall be securely bound or stapled as a formal document or project.

d.)  The assignment shall be submitted in hard copy, with SafeAssign matching %.

6.)  The following items/pages shall be included in the document for submission:

a.)  Cover page shall carry the following particulars:

i.)  University College name & logo, Faculty name.

ii.)  Programme name, Course code and title.

iii.)  Assignment (project) title (the product & the organisation).

iv.)  Tutorial group no.

v.)  Group member list and ID.

vi.)  Tutor name.

vii.)  Total words for the assignment (from Executive Summary to Financial

Projections sections).

viii.)  Completion/submission date.

 b.)  Plagiarism statement which is duly signed by each student in the team.

c.)  Plagiarism’s results/acknowledgement.

i.)  Plagiarism should NOT exceed 15% of the safeassign check in TAR

UC’s CeL. The contents of the assignment for safeassign are from

Executive Summary to Marketing Plan sections. 

ii.)  If plagiarism exceeds 15%, the group will have to select ANOTHER

NEW PRODUCT to produce a NEW business plan. Otherwise, it is

considered as FAIL.

iii.)  For information, representation of another person's work as your own,

without acknowledgement of the source, for the purpose of satisfying

formal assessment requirements is considered plagiarism.

d.)  Evaluation Forms A & B (as provided herewith).

i.)  These shall be completed with the required and relevant particulars by

the students concerned.

e.)  List or table of contents.

f.) 

The contents of the business plan.

i.)  Proper citation should be provided in the body (on the same page) of the

written assignment/plan.

ii.)  Refer to the assessment criteria attached herewith on the sections

required for the business plan.

g.)  References used should be shown in bibliography and in latest Harvard

referencing system (refer to TAR UC’s CeL).

h.)  Appendix is used to attach graphs, diagrams, figures, and other findings, and

which is to support the document/write up, shall be attached.

7.)  Length of project contents (exclude financial projections/statements, references and

appendix) is of minimum 3,000 words, but less than 4,000 words. However,

completeness of write-up is a requirement, such as include a proper financial

 projection/statements, references and appendix to support the write-up.

8.)  The criteria on assessing the assignment are shown in the Evaluation Form A attached

herewith.

9.)  The due date of submission of project assignment is in Week 5 during tutorial, or as

mentioned by the tutor concerned with prior notice.

a.)  Students are to be reminded that marks will be deducted at the rate of 10% per

day for late submission.

Coursework 2: Project Assignment Presentation (Individual)

1.)  Oral presentation of the assignment or project shall begin, after submission, during

tutorial or as decided by the tutor concerned.

a.)  Sequence of the groups presenting will be arranged in random by the tutor

concerned, prior to presentation.

 b.)  Formal presentation manner is expected. Hence, students are expected to be in

formal attire and perform in a professional manner.

2.)  A copy of the presentation material of the team shall be submitted to the tutor

concerned, prior to their presentation.

3.)  Presentation of assignment:

a.)  Each team is strictly limited to 20 minutes of presentation. Hence, each team

shall organise and finish the presentation within the time frame. Marks will bededucted for over or far below the time allocated.

 b.)  Presentation using computer and projector are expected as these will affect

mark award on handling presentation aids.

c.)  Students are requested to be prepared and carry out the presentation as part of

the assignment. Hence, each team member will be graded for teamwork,

 professionalism, synergy, overall flow and organisation of the report, besides

individual’s presentation skills and ability in presentation. Hence, students are

expected to be prepared for Q&A session during presentation.

4.)  The criteria on assessing the presentation are shown in the Evaluation Form B attached

herewith.

Note:All written reports will be returned to students for review only after presentation or in due

course.
