Antigone, La Llorona, and The Lady On The Moon

Antigone She is the oldest daughter of Oedipus and Jocasta. Her name in Greek means “one who is of the opposite opinion”.Creon made a law saying that no one should bury Polynices because he betrayed the city but Antigone broke the law and buried him so that he can be passed to the afterlife.She does not care if she is put to death because she knows that she will be with her brother and she will know that after she is gone everybody in Thebes will think of her as a hero. When Antigone was put in the cave she hanged herself by her dress the same way her mother committed suicide.

La Llorona

There is 2 versions of la llorona. One of the folktale’s is that she was so ill and was being treated by her mother-in-law that didn’t like her and was drove away to the forest with her children and they where left behind. The second folktale about la llorona is that she got married with a wealthy ranchero and had 2children with him then he left her and he only came to see he’s children she got mad at that so she drown them in the river.

The Lady On The Moon

There is 2 versions of the moon lady. One version is that Houyi and Chang’e are immortals and they got punished and got sent to earth and the queen of the west gave Houyi a pill so they both will swallow half and be immortals again but Chang’e swallowed it whole and started floating to the moon. Second version is that Chang’e worked with the emperor in heaven and she broke something important so she got sent to earth and she meet Houyi and their was 10 suns in the sky so Houyi shot 9 down and he became king and then he became greedy and selfish he told the elixir to make him a pill to be immortal then Chang’e accidentally swallowed the pill and Houyi became so angry and followed her and she jumped of the chamber but instead of falling she floated to the moon.
