A. Attention Grabber:Are you aware that the time of studying in elementary and high

school will be etended to !2 years instead of !0 years" #his is due to the new

B. Background of the Issue:% & !2 is the new im$lementation of education system by the

C. Thesis Statement / Stand on the Issue:Although many belie)e that % & !2 should not

be im$lemented+ but in my o$inion+ it should be im$lemented in the elementary and

high school le)el because it will u$lift the 3uality of education+ decongest and

enhance the basic education curriculum+ and students will be ade3uately $re$ared for

the world of wor* or entre$reneurshi$ or higher education(

learned+ through a $rogram that is rooted on sound educational $rinci$les and geared

!( 4t is not a solution that adding two years in the curriculum would guarantee an u$lift of

3uality of education( As of now+ we can do in ten years what e)eryone else in the

world ta*es !2 years to do( 9e are better than all of them( 5ili$inos right now are

acce$ted in $restigious graduate schools in the world+ e)en with only ten years of

2( As far as the curriculum is concerned+ 'e$artment of Education should fi the current

sub,ects instead of adding new ones( #he $roblem is the content+ not the length+ of

basic education( 9e need to ha)e better education+ not more education( Also+

'e$artment of Education must first sol)e the lac* of classrooms+ furniture and

e3ui$ment+ 3ualified teachers+ and error:free tetboo*s before they add the two years

of education for the senior high school( 4f these $roblems were resol)ed+ it is not too

( 4f the students are stuc* in Grades !! and !2 in studying for their technical:)ocational
