Degree Programme in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering

Chemical Engineering is the branch of engineering that deals with the application of physical sciences (e.g., chemistry and physics), and life sciences (e.g., biology, microbiology and biochemistry) with mathematics and economics to the process of converting raw materials or chemicals into more useful or valuable forms. In addition to producing useful materials, modern chemical engineering is also concerned with pioneering valuable new materials and techniques such as nanotechnology, fuel cells and biomedical engineering.

The CBE programme aims to produce a new generation of graduates with strong quantitative and analytical skills, as well as engineering know-how to excel in traditional chemical/petrochemical/pharmaceutical industries, as well as other emerging fields upon graduation.

“More than just having a wide range of academic courses, SCE also offers enriching overseas experiences and internships. I was given the privilege to spend six months in Sweden on an exchange programme. Furthermore, I managed to secure internships with UBS and Citibank. SCE even gave me the opportunity to publish my own research paper from my final year project. Looking back, SCE was the best choice I ever made.
