*Welcome everyone.
Introduce all the presenters and tell them you are about to tell them about an exciting opportunity*Play first 2-3 minutes?Authentic-Members of Congress make laws, in order to do this they need to gather information to make good decisions about the laws. One way they get information is through congressional hearings. They ask experts to answer important questions about proposed laws
**Be sure to emphasize that ALL students regardless of reading level, English speaking ability, or special needs will participate to the fullest extent that they are able. We modify the program the same way we modify day-to-day classwork but hold all students to a high level of expectation
When discussing how other grades MAY choose to participate. Emphasize that these are just examples of how other schools have incorporated the entire school to get everyone excited. However, each school can make the event as large or small as they like. This program is designed to be tailored to the needs and personality of each school community.

This is a performance based assessment of all these units.
Many of the speaking, listening, reading and writing skills will also be taught and utilized through this process.
Approximately 10 days before the hearing, many schools use about 1-2 hours of their day to prepare for the hearings.
The final date will be posted and sent home as soon as it is determined.*SCH Coaches Write speeches Discuss current events Listening/speaking skills
