Weekly Update APRIL 12, 2019

Hocking Valley Community Hos-pital recently received a generous donation of patient comfort items in memory of Morgan Lynnae Enderle from her family.

This is the third year the family selected HVCH for the toy donation drive, to help soothe those young patients during difficult encounters while visiting the hospital.

Again this year, the family hosted a dinner and toy drive at their home and an extremely generous amount of items was donated totaling $2,900.

“The toys were collected in honor of what would have been Morgan’s birthday. We hope to keep her memory alive by bringing a little joy into the lives of children who come to HVCH for treatment. Once again, thanks to family and friends for their

generosity to help make this a suc-cessful event,” said Ginny Hamilton, Morgan’s grandmother, and Heather Hughes, Morgan’s mother.

The new toys, including coloring books, games, stuffed animals, dolls, trucks and books, were distributed to the Laboratory, Radiology, Emer-gency and Urgent Care departments

Direct to You: From Stacey GabrielIt looks

like spring is finally upon us. Hope-fully those blizzard conditions they are getting in the Midwest fizzle before they get here. I am ready for sunny skies and brighter days. Spring is always a busy time of year at HVCH. Keep your eyes open for all of the events that will be happening in the coming months. There is a lot to celebrate and be proud of.

Thanks to all of our em-ployees who took the time to complete the Employee Opinion Survey through Modern Healthcare’s Best Places to Work. We value the feedback you provide on the surveys and use it to make improvements to hospital operations. You all are the most important part of what happens inside the walls of HVCH and

we want to ensure we are meeting your needs.

I also want to thank our staff for their time and at-tention during the annual employee forums Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday this week. It was great to get to spend some time with you all. We covered A LOT during the sessions. I hope you found it to be informational and helpful as you continue to provide exceptional service to those we care for.

I just want to remind you that my door is always open, so if ever you have a question, suggestion, con-cern, something you’d like to know more about, please reach out. If it’s easier to email me, please feel free do that. Our goal as a Senior Leadership Team is to ensure that you have the information in order to do your job to the best of your ability. Knowledge is power.

Thanks for all that you do and have a great day!—Stacey

2019 Employee Campaign prepares for kickoffThe 2019 HVCH Foundation Employee Campaign is

launching in the coming month. Every year, hospital em-ployees generously contribute toward a project. Last year's campaign raised funds for the hospital cafeteria renovations, which will be completed by summer.

The winning fundraising team "Team Chump Change" with Captain Dawna Evans raised more than $10,658.73 for the project. Overall, employees donated $27,825.98 toward the renovations. Team Chump Change (pictured) consisted of the following departments: Inpatient Services, Pharmacy, Spe-cial Care Unit, Laboratory, Cardiovascular/Cardiopulmonary, Performance Improvement, Community Relations, Human Resources and Administrative Reps Lauren Barber and Latricia Johnston.

This year, the employee campaign will assist in the pur-chase of new cardiac monitors and telemetry units to be utilized in the ER and SCU areas. This equipment monitors patients who are often in critical condition and need con-stant care and supervision of vital signs. Diagnostic informa-tion provided includes a patient’s heart rate, blood pressure, breathing and other vitals, which is used to guide clinical decision making for hospitalized patients.
