And she also along with her siblings, played in the Grantham Marimba Band! But, that is not why we are wring this arcle. Miss Emily went to school here at Grantham during the me when the whole school studied and worked on a Lewis/Clark Centennial Celebraon on a Confluence Garden Project where kids painted les for the tower that teachers also worked on designing and making. Its down the street from our school going towards 13 th , right by the lile building where preschool goes to school here at Grantham. Well recently, Emily came to a Grantham Booster meeng, to ask for a mini grant to help her with a project to clean up the overgrown mess the con- fluence garden had become. Boosters accepted the mini grant and she began her work. On a Saturday, they cleaned and fixed up the Garden. There were lots of the other young adults who some were also former students here at Grantham! Again I asked her a few Quesons about it the project. 1.)How long did the clean-up take? I started working on a Saturday, and have so far spent 15 hours (2 days) work- ing on this. I plan to come back and finish it up in the next few weeks! 2.) Who helped you? I had some previous Grizzlies help me, plus some students from the AFJROTC program. There were plenty of great people to help me out! Besides the monies from the Grantham Boosters, they fead us break snacks and water/juice and then Lunch! Thanks Mrs. Heath and Mrs. Layes! 3.) What did you do to the garden? My crew and I cleaned out the garbage, trimmed back the trees and bushes, cleaned up the rocks and reorganized those. Plus we added new bark and flowers to brighten the place up! We sll have some weeds to pull and flowers to plant, its not quit done yet. Emily also says, Id like to thank the Boosters for contribung to this project. Also to the AFJROTC Program as well. They helped make this project possible. Emily We thank you Emily + friends for taking care of our Confluence Garden here at Grantham! Grizzlies have GRIT! Miss Emily went to school here at Grantham during the time when the whole school studied and worked on a Lewis/Clark Centennial Celebration on a Confluence Garden Project where kids painted tiles for the tower that teachers also worked on designing and making. It’s down the street from our school going towards 13th, right by the little building where preschool goes to school here at Grantham. Book Review and Book Club By Bob-

by E.

Hi, this is Bobby and I will tell you about our Book Club and

do a book review about the book we’re reading!

The book we’re reading is about a girl called Rayen, who got chased

by a beast and then fell off a cliff into a canyon. Things look and

sound familiar but not! An old guy was talking to her and told her

she was allergic to peanuts, she was 17 and to RUN! And then she

stumbled literally into a group of teens and got captured by the offi-

cials and taken to a special school, which no one, no matter what,

can figure out who she is. At least so far...

The Book Club is every Tuesday and Thursday from 11:15 to 11:45.

Mrs. Layes reads to us, and after we’re done, we might take turns

reading so everybody gets a chance. We might even have reader’s

testing cards later on for the Book Club, and even snacks.

This is Bobby with the Book Review and

the Book Club report,

So kids, enjoy your yummy goodies!

V O L U M E 7 , I S S U E 8 EVENTS & NEWS As you may know by now , Mrs. Lee has been doing the Grantham Arts Program for several years now and toward the end of school she has had a Tea & crumpets for the 5th & 6th grade girls in the Library and the Boys do a Guys thing with Mr. Lee also. The kids also pick out clothing that they will do a Starshine Runway but before that, this year she had a Sewful Saturday with the kids. They learned how to remodel clothing to make something new out of it. And then they get to model their creations at the Starshine Runway show with the “Fashionista Sisters”! Next in May they will have a GAP Year End Program

where they will display some of their art work and work in a little dance and drama into the evening! It takes a lot of organizing and a lot of volunteers form the school– Teachers & Paras. Community

Volunteers that gave of their time to teach the arts, gave of their business to do the girls hair & makeovers and gave of their monies to fund some of the materials and activities! It is a great experience for these young kids to do this excellent program. Please come join us at the year end program and see the students talents and work in the arts. And Thank You Volunteers from the Community! Here are pictures of the Tea & Starshine Runway program. D.

by Mrs. Layes I wanted to point out the fact that we have

some mighty wonderful teachers here at Grantham teaching PAX and Kelso’s Choices! Mrs. Hanthorn’s class is the BESST room and the kids have been working on a PAX Game called, PAX-Master! The kids worked on identi-fying Spleems and PAX behaviors and made it into a Can-dyland “like” game. The game pieces are about 17 x 11 in size and the kids roll a large dice and count and they may land on natural territory or a Spleem that may

make them go backward or a Good PAX Leader Be-havior and go forward! Fun way to learn PAX! They also invented another game called, PAXGO and you play it like Bingo and it has Spleems and PAX Good Behaviors on it. Here are pictures of the PAX-Master Game!

Pop Tabs

Pull the tab off your can, put it in a small container or zip lock bag & put the can in a bigger plastic sack, save up & turn them in, to your teacher. Mrs. Heath col-lects the whole can for cash & it goes towards the annual Snake River boat trip for 5th graders. And of course, Mrs. Nedrow takes the pop tabs to the Ronald McDonald house. So let’s help the families who need the Ronald McDonald House of the Inland Northwest to be near their children in a hospital situation and help our school in this easy fund raiser! It is an easy Act of Kindness! :)

Get to collecting!!!
