A2 How to work Getting Started

Thank you for joining us, on this journey of exploring R&DQ possible futures. To make it easier for all of us to collaborate on-line, and to ensure we are all on the same page, we have prepared this manual for you.

Please read carefully and make sure you and your team follow the guidelines in their right sequence.

Details follow on the next page.

1. Unbox the kit – this is what you do right now ☺

2. Setting up the work plan and learning together and individually

3. Reading and discussing the brief

4. Researching and developing ideas and concepts

5. Developing and formulating your thoughts into delivery

6. Submission and review of your work

7. Publication

The journey is divided into 7 simple steps:

:

A2 How to work Getting Started 1

1. Unbox the kit

a. Please take a few minutes to get to know your teammates.

b. Next, please find the documents marked as B. Take 20-30 minutes,

while online, to read and share with your team your learnings about

this program.

c. Locate the Program Outline image (Document A5), and ensure that

the team understands the flow and timetable.

d. Set up a time and platform (phone/Teams/Skype) for your next

meeting.

e. Say goodbye and meet again to work on step 2 (follows).

a. In this section, you will find documents marked as B (Thinking

Tools). Please split into pairs. Each pair will read and learn one

thinking tool and be ready to share and teach it to the other

members of your team.

b. Next, discuss with your team how you can ensure that you will put

these tools and models into practice.

c. Look for the documents marked as D (Additional

Resources). Please split into pairs, have each pair read and

learn one of the four documents, and then share and teach the

other team members.

d. Set up the time and platform (phone/Teams/Skype) for your next

meeting.

e. Say goodbye and meet again to work on step 3 (follows).

2. Set up the work plan, learn together and individually

3. Read and discuss the brief

Please look for documents C to learn more about your teams track

(Design Teams or Think Tanks). Take 10 minutes, while online, to read

and discuss the challenge as you understand it.

4. Research and create ideas and concepts

a. Create your Fertile Question, as follows:

b. Take 5 minutes to remind everyone what is a Fertile Question

(document B1).

c. In pairs, go over the Question Bank (document D3), and circle out

the 4-5 questions that you are most interested in. You can choose

these questions for different reasons, yet the most important

criterion is that you would love to think of ways to answer them.

d. Together with your partner, create a Fertile Question based on your

selected questions from the bank.

e. Once you are done, have another pair from your team to review your

question, and ensure that it manifests all six characteristics of

a Fertile Question.

f. If needed - make another attempt to sharpen the question.

g. As a team, share all Fertile Questions and choose the one you would

like to work on together.

5. Develop and formulate your ideas and thoughts into delivery

Now that you have your Fertile Question ready, work with your team on

creating possible answers and new insights.

a. Create an easy-to-manage work plan for the team, with individual

assignments and peer-support.

b. List tasks such as reading, interviewing, watching videos, searching

for information, analyzing data, capturing and sharing progress and

results.

c. Find the best way for your team to manage and monitor progress

and put these tools in practice.

6. Submit and review your work

a. By the end of June, you will hand in your work.

b. Once submitted, a quick review process will be conducted jointly with

you.

7. Publication

We are not completely sure about how exactly we are going to publish

your work, but no doubt it will be AMAZING ☺

A3 Who can help

Innovation always comes with a fair amount of ambiguity. Still, we

hope that the guidelines are clear and that the teams will be able to

figure out their way on their own. This is also an opportunity to learn

from diversity and to be a bit more entrepreneurial. Remember “empowerment over control”? ☺

We would love to hear your thoughts and questions.

1st step – ask your teammates, they may know the answer.

2nd step – ask the iCoach who supports your team.

3rd step – write or call Elias, Anja-Christina Albert or Erez.

We tried to answer most of your questions in advance, when designing

this kit. However, if there is anything that is still unclear or confusing,

here is what we recommend:

A4 Program Concept and

Objectives

This program is intended to enable you to learn and experiment with

a new model, designed to create synergies and add depth to the way

you think in teams.

“Life is complicated” – you’ve probably heard this before.

The economy has changed in the past decades from a single professional

who creates a product or delivers a service from A-Z, to a team-based

process where a number of people are critical to the creation and supply

of goods and services. It took humanity a good 40-50 years to develop

knowledge and methods that enable to bring teams and crews to

optimal performance.

Nowadays, processing information and making decisions is becoming

challenging, mainly due to the need to consider an ever-growing number

of variables and considerations; a lot more than in the past.

There is therefore, an urgent need to learn and acquire methods and

tools that will help us think together, in small and effective teams.
