From the ELC
Applications Invited: Do you have a passion for Early Childhood Education and Care? ELC are currently looking for mature applicants who are interested in this amazing, rewarding area of work. All enquiries should be directed to Mrs Margaret Andoh-Okai at Edinburgh Early Learning Centre, 9728 2211 (option 3). Aged Care Visit: Our Purple Room friends were privileged to visit with some amazing people during their aged care visit last week. There was opportunity to share songs, a story, a poem and to chat with their new-found senior friends. The beautiful sunflowers that they had made as gifts were very much appreciated. Thank you, teachers, for providing such opportunities for the children in the Purple Room.

Year 9/10 SEISS Touch Football
and Netball It was an outstanding effort by our teams last Thursday at the netball and touch football SEISS Rally Day. The Edinburgh boys’ touch football teams played a strong game, with both making the grand final. Year 10 boys came runner up and Year 9 were the winning team on the day.
The combined Year 9/10 netball team started the day slowly but continued to improve throughout the competition. They all put in a great effort just missing out on the grand final, finishing third.
Students Recognised for Positive Behaviour for Learning (PB4L) During Term 1 students will be recognised for displaying behavioural values in the area of ACCOUNTABILITY. This week we are focussing on DEPENDABILITY.

Project Rockit (Bullying Prevention Training) On March 13 and 14, students from Years 3 to 12 will be participating in workshops which are designed to leave students feeling empowered, equipped and excited to stand up for what they believe in. Belong: Building friendship and empathy (Yr 3/4) This workshop hones in on interactions with peers, as well as developing, displaying and leaning into empathy within these interactions. In particular this session covers fitting in and inclusion, nice play, effective communication, body language and other social skills that are integral in the forming of positive peer relationships in later years. SYNC: Navigating the online world together (Yr 5/6) The SYNC workshop introduces the opportunities and challenges of the online world with a real understand-ing of current social networking sites and apps as well as online youth culture. Whilst the online world is a wonderful realm of endless possibility, we aim to highlight and be realistic about the challenges that come with this, including the rapid spread of infor-mation, miscommunications and the potential for cyberbullying. CONNECT: Tackling (cyber) bullying with empathy (Yr 7-9) The CONNECT session addresses (cyber) bullying through a strengths-based framework of empathy, respect and the sense of community that young people crave and strive for online. This work-shop navigates the risks and rewards of challenging (cyber) bullying and presents a range of tangible, age appropriate strategies for students to tackle online hate and feel well equipped to do so. As well as highlighting the largely well-known risks of digital communications, the workshop utilises students' appreciation of current social networking sites and online youth culture to leverage the positive potential for all of us to challenge and intercept online hate and prejudice rather than standing by watching it happen. LEVEL UP: Social leadership and values (Yr 10-12) Leadership extends a real focus on the potential that all individuals have to be leaders, regardless of whether we have been recognised with an official leadership position. This notion of 'personal leader-ship' works well for both formal leadership groups (such as SRC) and the broader student body. LEVEL UP aims to grow the personal leadership skills of students through an array of challenges that are active, reflective and inclusive, providing opportuni-ties for students to build on their strengths whilst identifying their own core leadership values.
