Monday 22nd June- Friday 26th June 2020
I am pleased to have welcomed our new Head of School, Michael Lowes, this week who was proud to meet year 6 pupils at a social distance and introduce himself. Miss Kahlon, Mr Lowes and I spoke with each of the year 6 Bubbles to remind them of just how proud we are of the courage and determination they have shown in their return to school. It has been such a pleasure seeing them grow in confidence. We also spent time talking to them about the activities their teachers have planned over the next few weeks, which may not make up for their missed residential visit to PGL, but will provide many opportunities for fun and enjoyment.
Following Mr Lowes’ visit, our new Head of School is keen to capture the views of stakeholders to develop a picture of the school and further develop his understanding of what makes Eastwick stand out in our community as well as areas in which the school could improve. Next week we will be distributing a link to capture staff and parental feedback which we would encourage all parents to complete as your ongoing feedback is so important.
This week’s glorious weather has provided further opportunities for outside learning and it has been beneficial to gain the children’s feedback to optimise our outdoor space and areas such as the woodlands for further use beyond lockdown. Please be reminded that in spite of the temperatures, pupils are expected to wear appropriate sport wear in replacement to their school kit, but please ensure that all shorts worn remain at the appropriate length for school.
This week has seen the completion of our IT migration, providing one central system across both buildings with improvements to communication, assessment and data systems. It also provides additional laptops for pupils offering more effective and enhanced learning across the curriculum. We can’t wait to see the children using their exciting new resources in the Autumn term!
Recently there have been many Government announcements affecting educational settings, which have been widely reported in the media. However, as we have previously mentioned, the detailed official DfE guidance on such announcements, more often than not, takes a lot longer to come through to schools, which then needs to be fully assessed and turned into detailed plans. With this in mind, further THPT-wide schools’ Covid-19 Update newsletters will follow, attempting to summarise developments and planning for what is being put in place in our school for September. Please be assured this information will come to you as soon as possible. Along with this week’s communication outlining plans to welcome all year groups to experience a move up day, our Year 3 and Early Years teams have been working hard to prepare transition materials and videos to support all our new pupils and parents for September.
We hope that you continue to enjoy the glorious weather forecast this weekend and thank you for your ongoing support and feedback.
Vanessa Wallden – Executive Head

Collection Arrangements
We continually review the staggered drop off / pick up arrangements for each bubble and are pleased how well each allocated slots has been going. However from Monday 29th, we ask that Year 6 and Key worker parents wait for their children in their allocated time slots, on the grassed
area in front of the pedestrian gates to prevent over-crowding on the pavements of Eastwick Drive. Please ensure that parents continue social distancing on this grassed area and keep the
pavement clear at all times to ensure the safe exit of pupils, parents and staff.
Free School Meals
We are aware that families circumstances may have changed recently. The Government have
developed a scheme to support families who either qualified for free school meals or may now do
so.
Please contact the School Office and we
will send you a Pupil Premium/ FSM application form to complete
School Reports
Pupil's end of year reports will be emailed to parents within the week commencing 13th July and no later than Thursday 16th July. If you are unable to receive electronic copies of this year's report,

COVID-19 Parental support
How you can help as parents of children attending school
We are asking you, as parents, to support the school by:
Not sending your child to school if they or anyone else in their household have a persistent cough,
temperature or have lost their sense of smell or taste or any other symptoms as per Government
COVID guidance.
Not sending your child to school if someone in your household is self-isolating, adhering to Government
self-isolating guidance.
Informing the school if the outcome of a COVID 19 test result for your child or anyone in the household
is positive
Discussing with your children the school’s adjusted rules and routines once they are made explicit
practising good hand and respiratory hygiene at home.
Not allowing your child to have social contact beyond that which is advised by the Government.
Adhering to the advice of medical professionals if your child is extremely clinically vulnerable or clinically
vulnerable.
Following the school’s arrangements for parental access to the school site
Ensuring that your child has all their own equipment as advised by the school
Ensuring that your child’s clothes are washed regularly, preferably daily
Please be aware of the following actions and procedures for identifying and reporting any
suspected cases for children in school;
Parents / Carers are asked to alert the school of any individuals / family member that show symptoms
of COVID-19
Parents / Carers to seek advice from 111 and to be tested as advised.
Outcomes of tests should be shared with the school immediately.
In the event of a symptomatic individual (child or adult) on site on any day, the parents or colleagues
of that “bubble” or office will be informed and told to self-isolate while the test result is awaited. PHE
advice is that such an incident does not warrant closure of the school and remedial actions will be taken
in line with Government guidance.
