Venue

Today, 1 in 100 individuals are diagnosed with autism,

making it more common than childhood cancer,

juvenile diabetes and pediatric AIDS combined.

It occurs in all racial, ethnic and social groups and is

four times more likely to strike boys than girls.

Autism impairs a person's ability to communicate and

relate to others. It is also associated with rigid routines

and repetitive behaviors, such as obsessively arranging

objects or following very specific routines. Symptoms

can range from very mild to severe. Most children with

autism lack social support, meaningful relationships,

future employment opportunities or self-determination.

Untangle Autism aims to inspire participants by

providing opportunities to build relationships, explore

intervention strategies, learn about new research

developments and celebrate experiences and

achievements and raise awareness about autism

spectrum disorder.

In this presentation, Christine (Chris) Robinson, explains the importance of

understanding Dr. Stephen Porges’ Polyvagal Theory in recognizing our

responses to stressors.

Music Therapy for Autism Spectrum Disorders

This presentation will focus on benefits of music therapy for individuals on

the Autism Spectrum. Speaker will introduce music therapy as an evidence-

based allied health profession and talk about its history and development.

Novel therapeutic approaches to the Autism spectrum patient.

This lecture will focus on therapeutic programs which can be designed and im-

plemented that strengthens these pathways resulting in more normal function

and putting in place the groundwork needed for the child to develop social and

verbal skills. We will discuss some of these pathways and therapies.
