As the co-founder of Halo Health, Ellen Magenheim embraced the idea of education sopassionately that her company delivers health education to patients in doctors'offices. Record Numbers in Summer Programs

API had its most successful summer yet with increased attended in four leadershipprograms for teens. We sold out of seats for both sessions of APPLI: College andCareers , our signature leadership workshop for high school teen girls, and deepenedour collaborative partnership with Rowan College of Burlington County where ourLead-A-Way program included both girls and boys.

A total of 44 high-school aged girlsparticipated in one of two sessions ofAPPLI (Alice Paul ProfessionalLeadership Institute) at Paulsdale. The first session, June 26-29,2017, included trips to the University ofPennsylvania, Lockheed Martin,Burlington County Times, and VirtuaHospital-Voorhees, and a careerworkshop at Rowan College atBurlington County. API is proud to have partnered for asecond summer with Rowan Collegeof Burlington County to run Lead-A-Way. During the week longprogram, 20 girls and 7 boys in middleand high school, took a field trip toPaulsdale to visit the birthplace ofsuffragist Alice Paul. In the workshopthey learned about the leadershipstyles of role models such as AlicePaul, civil rights activist DoloresHuerta, Congresswoman ShirleyChisholm, and Supreme Court Justice

Sonia Sotomayor. The program encouraged each participant to identify and developtheir own leadership style and to formulate strategies for taking leadership roles intheir schools and communities. The program culminated with team presentations ofsocial justice projects designed by the students to promote ways to advocate forgreater gender equality.

The great success of the 2017 summer workshops is due in part to the generoussupport of the following groups who provided full or partial scholarships for over 20students to participate in summer programs:

Comcast NBC Universal (provided 12 scholarships)Kiwanis Club of Greater Mt. LaurelJudy Glick Buckman Fund for the FuturePorch Club of RivertonSouth Jersey Alumnae Association of Gamma Phi Beta
