DESCRIPTION

Presentation I did for Mzinga is that (the result of a merger between KnowledgePlanet and Shared Insights). I looked at what e0learning 2.0 means to me personally, then what it means to students in general, and how it shaped learning. I also talked about trends in learning - especially as these new technologies come up against traditional environments. I finished with a quick summary of the underlying technologies. What does Learning 2.0 mean for a learner?

Page 11: E-Learning 2.0: What It Means, Where It’s Going

Three Views of Learning Resources:

Page 12: E-Learning 2.0: What It Means, Where It’s Going

1. Learning Resources as a thing–Book, content object, etc

Page 13: E-Learning 2.0: What It Means, Where It’s Going

2. Learning Resources as events–Class, lecture, seminar, meeting

Page 14: E-Learning 2.0: What It Means, Where It’s Going

• The first two models are information-theoretic and medium-based models–They stress content

–They stress rules

3. Learning Resources as flow– Stresses experience– Stresses pattern recognition

What does this look like?

Page 17: E-Learning 2.0: What It Means, Where It’s Going

• User generated Content

–Personal, opinionated

Page 18: E-Learning 2.0: What It Means, Where It’s Going

• Network of interactions

Page 19: E-Learning 2.0: What It Means, Where It’s Going

• Immersive Learning

Page 20: E-Learning 2.0: What It Means, Where It’s Going

• New Roles– For students - as creators of learning– For teachers - as coaches and mentors– For the rest of us - as teachers

Page 21: E-Learning 2.0: What It Means, Where It’s Going

• Issues:– Too much information, filtering info

– Too many sources to scan, new sources

– Localization, personalization, relevance

Learning as a network phenomenon…

• The Network is Diverse – multiple views, multiple technologies

Page 28: E-Learning 2.0: What It Means, Where It’s Going

• The Network is connected and interactive (not ‘integrated’) – small pieces, loosely joined

Page 29: E-Learning 2.0: What It Means, Where It’s Going
