In addition to the indicated credits, students have to earn 99 elective credits during semesters IV - IX, with at least 27 credits from the Department of Biotechnology (BT) and the remaining 72 credits from any department including BT. Students will be registering for 25 credits of project in summer, 20 credits of project in semester IX and 40 credits of project in semester X. Credits and grades for the dual degree project will be awarded together at the end of semester X. Maths elective: To be chosen only from MA2020 Differential Equations (or) MA2040 Probability, Stochastic Processes and Statistics (or) MA2130 Graph Theory Credits and grades for the dual degree project (BT5911#, BT5911+ & BT5911) will be awarded together at the end of semester X. BTech (honors)+MTech: Additional requirement: Complete 27 credits of professional electives from the Department of Biotechnology at the 5000 level or above, in addition to the 27 credits from the Department of Biotechnology required for the regular dual degree program

BT (BS)

Credits indicated are only for the core program. In addition to the indicated credits, students have to earn 108 elective credits during semesters V - IX, with at least 36 credits from the Department of Biotechnology and the remaining 72 credits from any department including Department of Biotechnology. Recommended: Semesters V - 9 credits; VI - 18 credits; VII, VIII & IX - 27 credits Students will be registering for 25 credits of project in summer, 20 credits of project in semester IX and 40 credits of project in semester X. Credits and grades for the dual degree project will be awarded together at the end of semester X. Maths Elective: To be chosen only from MA1020 Series and Matrices (or) MA2020 Differential Equations (or) MA2040 Probability, Stochastic Processes and Statistics (or) MA2130 Graph Theory. Credits and grades for the dual degree project (BT5912#, BT5912+ and BT5912) will be awarded together at the end of semester X BS (honors)+MS: Additional requirement: Complete 27 credits of professional electives from the Department of Biotechnology at the 5000 level or above, in addition to the 27 credits from the Department of Biotechnology required for the regular dual degree program

CH Indicated credits are for core programme including departmental electives (5). In addition, 72 (13%) credits of free electives have to be taken in V semester (1), VI semester (2), VII semester (2) and VIII semester (3). The numbers in the parenthesis indicates suggested number of electives.

CE Indicated credits are only for core curriculum. The students are required to take 99+ 36 elective credits during semesters V-X, with at least 45 of those credits in Civil Engineering, and at least 4 electives (36 credits) in DD stream of specialisation. The remaining credits can be from any department including Civil Engineering Electives can be taken in semesters V-VIII, limiting to about 60 credits per semester.

CS Students should complete a total of 192 credits of electives out of which a minimum of 120 Credits must be completed through CSE Dept. Electives. Semesters marked with ‘*’: students should take appropriate number of electives in consultation with faculty advisor. The students are free to take the elective courses in different semesters, so that the total number of credit hours per semester does not normally exceed 60. CS1200 is equivalent to MA2060: Discrete Mathematics. CSE students are not allowed to credit MA2060 as a free elective. Students should complete an 85-credit Final Year Project, out of which:

o 20 Credits in summer term following 8th Semester (Project I) o 30 Credits in 9th Semester (Project II) o 35 Credits in 10th Semester (Project III)

EE Indicated credits are only for core programme. In addition to the 184 credits of electives specified for the BTech programme till the 8th semester, BTech+MTech DD students should earn 121 credits more than their B.Tech counter parts. Out of these, 36 credits of electives have to be taken in Elec. Engg. (or equivalent) at the 5000 level or higher. An 85-credit project must be completed over the summer after the 8th semester, and in the 9th& 10th semesters. Elective credits can be taken subject to maximum of 60 credits per semester. All elective lab courses will also be eligible. DD students are required to earn an additional 121 credits more than their BTech counterparts, out of which 36 elective credits will be taken from Elec. Engg. (or equivalent) at the 5000 level or higher, and can be taken in any semester subjectto course prerequisites. 85 credits of DD project will be taken in the summer after the VIII semester, and in the IX and X semesters. Elective credits can be taken subject to maximum of 60 credits per semester. All elective lab courses will also be eligible. Credits and grades for DD Project will be awarded at the end of X semester. BTech (honours) + MTechprogram: Extra credit requirement: 27 elective credits over and above regular BTech program at the 5000 level or above.

ED Indicated credits are only for core programme. In addition, 99 credits of electives have to be taken in sems IV-X, of which atleast 27 credits should be from the list of professional elective courses prescribed by the Department of Engineering Design. The remaining 72 credits constitute free electives. The presence of the terms “Free Elective” and “Professional Elective” in the tables is meant to remind the students regarding the same. BTech (honours) + MTech program: Extra credit requirement: 27 elective credits over and above regular program from the courses prescribed by the Department of Engineering Design. These credits have to be completed in VI, VII and IX semesters.

METH) (MD) (ME)

Professional Elective 1 - to be chosen from 4000 level; Professional Elective 2-4 - to be chosen from 5000 + level.

MM Semester-wise specification of courses for first 6 semesters identical for the BTech an Dual degree programmes. Students can enroll for elective credits subject to a maximum work load of 60 hours per week. B.Tech + M. Tech students need to take all the three phases of the project, 25 credits of elective courses from “P” category and 91 credits of free elective courses. B.Tech (Hons) + M. Tech students need to take all the three phases of the project, 52 credits of elective courses from “P” category and 91 credits of free elective courses. Under the “P” category of electives, students can take a combination of practical courses and theory courses to complete the credit requirement.

OE In addition to the above, students have to take 72 credits from any dept. including Ocean Engineering. Electives can be taken in semesters V-VIII, subject to maximum of 60 credits per sem. Credits and grades for DD Project (OE5370) will be awarded at the end of X semester. BTech (honours) + MTech program: 1) Extra credit requirement: 27 elective credits over and above regular program.
